I LOVE that Sunday's Off exists. I love that it's in the (North)East Bronx. I love the design and can't wait for the consistently warmer days to head over there for iced drinks.
Food/Drinks:
On that note, I DO think that the drinks can be a bit inconsistent. The first time I went was in the winter. I had a latte and it was great. I went with a few friends a few weeks ago to grab some drinks and breakfast before heading out on a roadtrip, and we wanted to love it more. One friend had an iced matcha latte and they felt it wasn't stirred all that well. I had an iced latte, and it tasted more like an iced coffee. Just didn't have the same kind of satisfying, milky texture of a latte, so I think there are some improvements there. Otherwise, again, I really love that Sundays Off is here.
Ambiance/Neighborhood:
It's a small place. The artwork is by one of the co-owners. Beautifully decorated. Artsy and chill. Classic coffee shop tile, warm lighting by the counter top where you can fix up your coffee. There's really only space to order. Good news is, they do have some outdoor tables (2, I think), so with warmer weather on the horizon, it's a plus to sip and chat outside. It's tucked in a residential neighborhood, so there's not a terrible amount of stuff to do around there once you've purchased your coffee. Just something to keep in mind if you don't already have a destination after you visit the shop. It's not TOO far from Pelham Bay Park, so on a nice day, grabbing a cup of your favorite drink and the heading over to the park sounds like a pretty nice and chill day. It's a great neighborhood spot, though. I can tell the folks in that area love it!
Transportation:
I don't live in the area, so it's a bit of a trek to get there for ME, but it's worth the trip. The Bx 8 drops you across the street if you're taking the Locust Point Bound 8. If you're taking the Williamsbridge bound 8, you're in luck because the stop is right outside the shop's door. The Crosby Ave 6 train stop isn't too far either, and if you live near the Bx24, you can get off at Crosby and Westchester Ave and walk on Crosby.
Overall:
I hope that more coffee entrepreneurs take note and follow suit to opening up more places like this in the NORTHEAST (and North West) Bronx. We have the room for it. We have the interest.
Good work is being done here. I'm excited to see what's in the future for...
Read moreHands down one of the best coffees I’ve ever had in my life and that says a lot because I’ve been drinking coffee every day for the past three years and I hadn’t found anything that topped the coffee in La. I never thought I’d find that LA coffee shop vibe in NYC, especially not in the Bronx, but Sundays Off proved me wrong.
It’s a true hidden gem. I don’t even like vanilla coffee, but I decided to try something different, and wow… I was left speechless. And don’t even get me started on their chocolate chip cookie easily one of the best I’ve ever had. I almost wish I hadn’t found this place because now I’ll be here all the time.
If you’re looking for top-tier coffee, an amazing vibe, and a treat that’ll blow your mind, this...
Read moreOh mah gyatt guys lemme tell you. I’ve been getting matcha from Blank street in manhattan and as much as I love them I really wanted to see if there was something closer to me. Searched it up, turns out these guys have been open since December so I had to pull up. We walk in and it’s so nice in there and the two men at the front desk are so welcoming. I asked for an iced matcha and they even asked me if I wanted to try a sample. My dad got the cappuccino and he really liked it. Waiting time was very minimal. I appreciated how I literally saw him grinding up my matcha in front of my eyes. It turned out so good and I’ll definitely be back to try more....
