Sweet Bamboo Chinese Food | Hillside — Restaurant in New York

Never in my ENTIRE life have I tasted Chinese food so bad that I couldn't finish it.

I was looking to try a new spot, in my neighborhood and decided to go with this place. I ordered Sesame Chicken, with white rice & broccoli for myself and General Tso's chicken, with white rice and broccoli for my son. The food was very quick, it arrived in under 20 minutes.

At first glance, everything looked really good until we began to eat.... the broccoli was uncooked. Chinese restaurants are becoming extremely cheap these days and limit your portion of vegetables. For broccoli it's down to 2 or 3 pieces now. I paid extra for a decent serving of vegetables and received a handful of raw broccoli.

If I had never eaten chicken before these people could've fooled me. It tasted absolutely nothing like it. Lord knows what they are serving their customers. For all I know, it could've been a stray cat, pigeon, or some other random animal off of the street that they deep fried and tossed in some sauce, in place of chicken. As I went in for a sniff, it did NOT smell anything like Sesame Chicken that I'd bought before.

My son who eats like a pig, wouldn't even go near it. This food went directly where it belonged... IN THE TRASH!!!! I was so upset to waste my time and my hard earned money, on such disgusting food. Never again would I buy from Sweet Bamboo. I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Unfortunately, I can't give 0 stars. The food was horrendous, and the lady that took my order had a bit of an attitude. The delivery guy was really nice, though. That is about the only thing that was pleasant from my experience with this establishment. This was my honest review. I am not exaggerating at all!! Hopefully this helps someone make a better decision about choosing...

The manager and staff goes the extra mile to make sure customers are satisfied with their service. I moved to the area in 2023 and have started ordering Chinese food from Sweet Bamboo. The food from this place has been consistently great. Every time I walk into the restaurant, the staff always greets me with a smile.

Tonight, I ordered general tso chicken, beef with broccoli, chicken fried rice, shrimp fried rice, and chicken wings over the phone but forgot to mention adding extra shrimp to my shrimp fried rice. Once the food was delivered, I called the restaurant to inform them that I’m a regular customer and the fried rice didn’t include extra shrimps. The manager was very polite and mentioned that they would make another fresh shrimp fried rice for free and deliver it to me, while he checked with his staff on the issue. Within a few minutes after my call, the manager called me back and mentioned that they actually use a call center to take call-in orders and that the company provided a voice recording of the order. I listened to the recording and was embarrassed that I never mentioned the extra shrimp, lol! Nonetheless, the manager apologize for the inconvenience and still delivered the new fried rice. After 10 minutes, the new order was delivered to me. The food was hot and fresh! This exceptional service was unexpected from a Chinese restaurant. All the past Chinese restaurants I’ve been to would probably just ignore or charge me extra for the new fried rice.

Other than the service, some dishes that I highly recommend are the General Tso chicken, fried chicken wings, and chicken with mixed vegetables. Their canned soda is just $0.75, probably the lowest price you will ever see nowadays from...

I Ordered 2 combos with vegetable egg fried rice and I only received vegetable fried rice. I called them back to let them know and the manager requested that I wait for them to bring me the correct rice and give them back the rice from my orders in a separate container which i found inconvenient 40 minutes LATER I GET A CALL FROM THE MANAGER STATING “we cannot send you the rice because vegetable fried rice doesn’t come with egg” this is ridiculous because i didn’t order vegetable fried rice alone i specifically asked for the egg to be added. So after waiting almost a hour ! She decides to tell me that she cannot send the food after I already separated it and waited almost a hour ! because all her drivers are out and she will try to do better next time. Honestly sounds like a bunch of excuses. In the end one of her drivers showed up at my door despite I was told they weren’t going to send it. The rice itself taste bland, not alot of flavor which is odd for a fried rice even the color was off.
