I really loved the location on 50th St And was excited to try this spot with my boyfriend. If you’re looking for a rowdy and vibey spot - this is a great place for groups. That have a curated list of mezcals and tequila drinks that are pretty tasty.
If you’re coming in for a date and want to chat, this might not be the best option. The DJ music can get quite loud and sitting in the outside garden depending on the weather can get chilly.
The hostess alone is getting all of three stars as she’s attentive, warm, and a generally great person.
The biggest issues we faced were with operations - which may be a result of the new GM and missing Associate GM or a proper Bar Manager. While the food was tasty (definitely get the spicy guacamole and the cod tacos), the drinks operations could improve. The pumpkin group serve was out when we ordered (they just added it to the menu and cooked all the pumpkins) and when I ordered a replacement drink - Hibiscus Sour - it came late even after the GM checked on it. When I finally got my drink, we didn’t realize until later that it was a regular Whisky Sour that was so tart it tasted like a lemon. When asked if I could have ice to fix it - the waiter should have offered to remake it but instead just delivered whatever was asked (think he was short staffed and in a rush). In the end my boyfriend went back to the bar to ask if they could remake - which was met with some defiancy before making a proper Hibuscus Sour. The waiter was also quick to snag our check as he was “rushing to clock out”.
We really wanted to like the experience because the hostess set us up so properly! If you’re wanting to come here for some fun In a group setting and enjoy some tapas and tacos. Definitely go - just don’t expect for an...
Read moreWent at the last half hour of happy hour. Was initially turned off by the lack of customer service given by the bartender. I am a bartender and never would I respond in the manner she did to any guest.. much less to someone that tells you it's their first time. Anyhow realizing that not every bartender can be as courteous as they should, I ordered a spicy margarita and she scoffed, "I can make it but it's not on happy hour" .. I responded "ok no problem, I'll take a basic happy hour margarita while I wait for my friend and later I'll order the spicy one. She ended up giving me a spicy margarita.. no happy hour deal by the time I received my bill. The 1 happy hour appetizer taco my friend and I got.. the chicken was hard. Assuming it was like that because it was the end of happy hour, my friend and I ordered the cod fish Tacos and the chicken shawarma tacos. They were ok, creative but nothing I'd really order again. Mind you, my friend and I are Taco and tequila seeking folks so we do have a good knowledge of good tacos. Oh and did I mention, it was Taco Tuesday where the menu said "happy hour all day" on Tuesdays. Yet, my bill had no mention of happy hour prices.. every margarita (my friend ordered 2 of the classic happy hour margaritas with a substitute of mezcal (supposed to be just $1 more) was full price. I'd honestly only return for the music by DJ Eloy and the awesome manager Topi (if not the manager, she should be and we received an industry discount which I thought was nice). The bartender and server we had that day really need to go get some hospitality training.. I don't like to go to an establishment and be treated as if I'm a problem.. especially when I'm spending my hard earned money from another restaurant and bar...
Read moreMy good friend/coworker had a bottomless brunch voucher for two people that she needed to redeem since it was very close to the expiration date. I decided to join her. We made the experience memorable since we always have a great time together. However, the food here isn't memorable. They promote it as a "bottomless brunch" which, in my opinion, is quite misleading. Their bottomless brunch menu consists of unlimited drinks and tacos for 90 minutes. No other food options are included in the deal. Any other brunch food item is a la carte. To make matters worse, they have only five taco options to choose from; Chicken Shawarma, Al Pastor, All Day Breakfast taco, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, and Roasted Sweet Potato. My friend and I both agreed that the Al Pastor and All Day Breakfast tacos were our favorites. We really enjoyed scraping the Brussels Sprouts off the tacos and eating them just like that. The Sprouts were so tasty and didn't need a taco shell whatsoever. The chicken shawarma taco missed the mark as the chicken thigh meat was tough. They get kudos for creativity but the taco is a dud. The roasted sweet potato taco wasn't memorable either. We tried it once and never went back for it, just like the chicken shawarma taco. The frozen margarita was my bottomless choice of drink and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed their version of a classic frozen cocktail. Tequila, Elderflower liqueur, lime, citrus-infused agave. I plan to recreate this at home.
The space itself is very festive and spacious (there's another large seating area upstairs. If I do return here it will be for happy hour drinks, particularly their...
