The room was very clean but very tiny for two people. The ladies at the counter were very kind and helpful. I really appreciated their hospitality. The gentleman however, was very rude every time we spoke. More specifically, when we were checking out he was rude about the check out time. We had our car parked in the lot right next door. First of all, the check out time on Hotwire says 12 PM (NOON) AND there was also a sign on the back of the hotel room door that says check out is at 12 NOON. That being said, we made our way to the parking garage to get our car out at approximately 10:35-10:40AM (thinking we have plenty of time to check out and we have until noon). We wanted to grab the car first to load our stuff out of the room, then go to the front desk to check out/return the keys, however when we went to the parking garage the attendant was no where to be seen through the door or gate. We waited approximately 5-10 min and even called through the gate to see if anyone was there but no response so we decided to go back inside and ask the front desk about getting our car. I asked gentleman at the front desk if the parking attendant was around so we can load our things into the car, and he says “oh you’re checking out. Let me get you your receipt to sign.” Not my question, but okay no worries. I waited patiently while he typed away (keep in mind I have like 4 bags/luggage in my hands). It took at minimum 5 minutes to get our receipt but again no big deal. He asked me to sign the receipt so I did, then I repeated my question about the parking attendant because we need our car so we can load our things. By this time 10 -15 minutes have gone by so it’s about 10:50, and he looks at his watch and says “oh but check out is at 11 you know?” With an attitude. I’m thinking what the heck? So I said, “ no Hotwire says noon and the sign on your door says noon”. And he snaps back “no no that sign on the door is old and the lady told you when you checked in that it’s 11AM” . I am ???? very taken aback at this point. First of all, I found this very weird considering we are ACTIVELY checking out, we were waiting for the parking attendant, and waiting for him to print my receipt so I can sign it. So it’s not like we are not leaving. Second of all, it was not even 11 yet, technically. Third of all, not one single person told us check out is at 11, it’s not on any documents they gave us, and he wasn’t even there when we checked in so again very weird thing for him to say. LASTLY, if it’s SO important for their customers to be out exactly by 11AM then they should update their documentation through Hotwire and their information INSIDE THE ROOM. It was very unnecessary for him to say this to me and basically argue with me about it..again we were literally leaving. Then when we finally got the car appx 11 am and went back to the room to get the rest of our stuff, our keys were disabled 😂 (this was all within minutes- less than 5 min for us to get our car once the attendant saw us the second time we went out) . So we had to go back for him to reactivate the keys. Which is exactly why we wanted to get the car first, before checking out. Anyway, I also spoke to this same gentleman on the phone prior to our reservation and he was very rude about a simple question I had. Overall, considering the room was extremely tiny, the location was just okay, and the one of the receptionist was very rude, I would not really recommend the Carvi Hotel. It’s disappointing because the other workers were very kind, and otherwise our stay would have been okay. I will say I was very pleased with the...
Read moreIn writing reviews that are helpful to my fellow travelers, I try to take into account LOCATION, EXPECTATION, and VALUE. I cannot recommend the Blue Angel MORE highly for a stay. While the Blue Angel isnt as fancy as other hotels I've stayed at (its literally hidden on 55th Street), it still doesnt detract from a terrific experience--I wish I could have given a 4.5. LOCATION--Mid Town East, and hey since its NYC, you walk out the hotel door and you're "in the middle" of things. 55th Ave is in between 3rd Ave and Park Ave. The location is excellent. EXPECTATION--this is NYC, and its in Midtown, most hotel rooms are not going to be large. And the Blue Angel room (king size bed) was small but functional and enough space for my wife and myself. I actually expected the room to be SMALLER. The bathroom is small--the shower (no tub) was literally the size of a phone booth. But in general, the Blue Angel, while small (rooms and bathroom) is functional and comfortable. VALUE--we believe the value for the room size and amenities was reasonable to underpriced--for Midtown NYC. There were other hotels in the area that were more expensive (but since we didnt stay there we couldnt compare room size), but the Blue Angel was a terrific place to overnight esp given the price and the location. The ONLY real downside is the lack of a gym. The upsides (among others)--sodas and snacks in the room are complimentary, which Ive never seen before in a hotel. And the staff was very friendly and helpful, esp MARCOS--who has the late shift and was friendly and helped my wife with some complex instructions for another member of our party that Marcos handled with grace...
Read moreThank you so much to everyone at the Carvi Hotel for making our Valentine's Day staycation + weekend getaway so perfect! Even though we're New Yorkers, we still like to book a hotel here every now and then. Great boutique hotel in an awesome location. Midtown East has everything: lots of options for fine dining, cafes, liquor stores, fast casual, subway/bus access, etc. If you're a tourist, you have plenty of places nearby for sightseeing, esp. 5th Ave shops!
Here's everything we loved:
Customer service is 10/10. I interacted with I think 4 different front desk attendants and honestly they were all fabulous. Super welcoming vibes right off the bat! Complimentary luggage storage + coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby Terrace access! So cute SUPER clean: lobby, elevators, stairs, room, bathroom Bed itself is cozy and comfy! Good bedding too, and I like the headboard Great water pressure in the shower Bathroom size is a plus! TV hookup to your smart devices came in clutch We were able to invite friends to hang with us in our room for Super Bowl Sunday. Fun vibes! Snacks, seltzers, sodas, and bottled water in the mini fridge are free (also, there's some room for leftovers too lol)
Other notes:
Booking process online is very straightforward and simple. Super easy to use and I had zero trouble with the website I appreciated the courtesy reminder emails when our stay was fast approaching! I called a few days in advance to double check something and they were super nice
