Romantic Sunset Dining 🌅 A Collection of Rooftop Restaurants in NYC

I searched so many hotels for an upcoming trip to NYC. I happened onto this utterly charming hotel. Even on the website this place just seemed different than the cookie cutter chain hotels scattered throughout Manhattan. Everything about this establishment was classy. Being a privately owned boutique hotel, the accommodations and the service are top notch. I rented a King Bedroom Suite with a balcony. The room had the amenities you would expect to find only in 5-star accommodations, such as bath robes, slippers, stocked snacks and liquor cabinet, stocked refrigerator, daily newspaper, a shoe buffing machine, extra pillows and blankets, fold out mattress for the living room couch, coffee maker, wine glasses, shoe horn, umbrella. A booking even includes pool usage at a local health and racquet club. The king size bed was comfy. The A/C was ice cold (nice after a long day out in the sun on the streets of NYC). The view from the balcony was nice. The hotel staff were the nicest and friendliest people I've ever met in the hospitality industry. There is an aire of family to this establishment, and all the staff have pride. I spoke with several people staying at the hotel, who have been coming back to this establishment for a decade or more. I can certainly understand why. Because the a Kimberly Hotel is Manhatten's best hotel, hands down. I will never stay in any other hotel when I stay in NYC. The Kimberly Hotel is a veritable diamond!!! The hotel is only about 3 NYC blocks from 5th Avenue and maybe 4 from Time Square. The hotel sports two very good restaurants on site and a rooftop bar. The subway is at the corner of the block.

Kimberly Hotel was my first NYC hotel experience. In general rates are expensive in NYC. This room was no exception however it was a better value for us than other choices. It was close to other subway stations and not too terrible a walk to Times Square. Rooms were pretty spacious and do provide a couple complimentary waters upon arrival. The view was nothing special but we were on the 5th floor. During the day there is noise from the streets but I never noticed it at night. The rooms must be well-insulated. We were there 3 nights and never heard a neighbor once. Service was impeccable. I checked in online and they had room ready for me at 1:30pm and check in was a breeze. Throughout our stay we asked a few questions and all were always helpful and courteous. Housekeeping did great with out stayover service. My only critical: found a lot of hair in shower and floor in bath upon arrival before we used anything and room needed more wash cloths and towel hanging space not in the shower itself. Overall we enjoyed our stay and recommend to people looking for quality and comfort without paying the prices most people charge for these luxuries in NYC.

I arrived at The Kimberly on Sunday the 20th 2014 for my honeymoon in NYC. First i want to mention I chose the more expensive room called "Deluxe King" I arrived to find an outdated small room with decor that is miss matched from all time periods, no cohesive look to the entire room. Before getting upto the room I asked the front desk if there were any better rooms to upgrade to even if it meant me paying for it. I was told no that our room was the best they had to offer for our stay. We are here one night so on the way to do some walking around Manhattan I asked the front desk to have the sheets changed due to adult fluids being on them. they advised me they would have it taken care of. we come back to the room and pull back the comforter to find nothing has been changed. Literally we can see the areas on the linens I was concerned with. so I have to call and have the night crew come up once we leave again to change them. We were promised the New York Times for free Monday through Friday. I only received this after complaining on Wednesday morning. so 2 days with out the promised paper. the a/c in the room is not temp controlled so it just runs and runs and no way of telling what temp it is in the room. Sad part is I am stuck in this hotel till Friday. I will have to say. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Tub is not big enough to use as a couple. which is pretty important during your honeymoon. also shower is pathetic very weak stream and not adjustable. Room service is amazing, great food, although they are out of short ribs all the time. location is great for walking tours. they do not offer a complimentary car service which is weird for a luxury hotel. Door men are not helpful when it comes to flagging down a cab, he actually suggested we walk a block to get one ourselves(awesome suggestion to a handicapped man) idiot. The front desk staff seems very helpful. not sure but they just seem to react once they get a complaint. towels very stiff and not soft, closet is ok but for a lengthy stay like we are very small, smaller than the closet I had growing up when I lived in a trailer. I ate at The London NYC last night and they gave me a free car ride back to The Kimberly.....they offer a rooftop dining experience but never have availability, so maybe they should take that off the list of perks for the hotel. I will def be back to see if improvements are made. or to see if they take this criticism to heart and make changes while im here or next trip. Although next time I will make my reservations directly with the hotel instead of through travelocity so I can leave if dissatisfied. btw I notified hotel I was not happy but nothing they can do because i paid through travelocity. ...

Rooms this spacious are unheard of in NYC! Every few months, The Kimberly Hotel is our romantic getaway, away from home. Our sumptuous Deluxe King Bedroom Suite with stunning views, from our private oversized balcony overlooking the city, is incredibly quiet and peaceful. The best part is the uber comfortable bed. Beyond the conventional upscale luxury hotel pampering, picture a mattress topped with a feather bed and gowned in Frette linens, a plush-down comforter inside the duvet with goose-down pillows to boot, with comfortable antique-style furnishings that ooze charm. It’s literally the stuff dreams are made of. This is old time luxury in all its glory. The management seems to have anticipated every need that we may have. The window treatments sport fringed green velvet in almost the exact shade as the gown whipped up by Scarlett O’Hara. The walk-in closet, outfitted with dark wood shelves, is an absolute necessity for me, and a thumbs up to the enormous bathroom, with two granite sinks swimming in a sea of dark green marble.

This is the ultimate European-style boutique hotel in the Old European style typified by pink granite lobbies, gold Louis XV-esque chairs, faded oriental rugs, and flickering candelabra torcheres. And the one piece that doesn’t quite fit the old world feel but certainly the luxury ideal: a 2,000-gallon cylindrical aquarium built right into a hotel column. Fish and coral of all different colors swim slowly through the water. We just love to relax and lose ourselves in the sounds of tiny bubbles, mesmerized by the underwater festivities and the aquarium’s soft glow. We are especially grateful to the staff, as their attentive service always makes our stay extra special. It quickly becomes evident that almost the entire staff is comprised of experienced long-timers, some of whom have been there since its beginnings. If you are lucky, you may be welcomed by The Kimberly's very first employee, Gregory, the doorman. His lovely demeanor, old time southern charm, and knowledge of the history of the hotel are an exhilarating treat. Then there is the exceptional service and warm welcome from Harry the doorman, who somehow always remembers our name. I left the best for last, the poised and ever-so-amazing and attentive to all our needs, Marcia, head of sales, who treats every guest like royalty. Euro-style hotel with so elegant a feel that it creates the illusion you’ve stepped into a Victorian mansion. We cannot wait till...

I never leave reviews - but I must highly recommend this hotel. My family of 4 (2 kids under 10) had the best stay here. The main reason I chose it was for the room sizes; the rooms are super spacious by any standard, but especially by NYC standards. We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite w a pull out couch for the kids. It gave our family plenty of room to spread out, and made it more enjoyable to come back and relax in the middle of the day as needed. Everything was very clean and housekeeping did a great job each day. The location was wonderful and easy to get around. The restaurants were all fabulous. We really enjoyed all three restaurants - the steakhouse was gorgeous and had great food and service, the Italian restaurant was perfect for us upon arriving hungry - far surpassing our expectations for a quick, convenient dinner. And the rooftop area had a great brunch with a lovely ambiance and wonderful service. Yes this property is on the older side but the hotel is so well cared for that it almost goes unnoticed in my opinion. It has a very baroque/old fashioned decor and vibe which kind of works in their favor in that regard. I wondered if I’d be bothered by the age of the hotel or furnishings but it was truly a non issue. Nothing important felt old or worn out. Bed and linens were fresh and super comfortable, the bathroom seemed updated, was very clean and well appointed. Rainfall shower, good water pressure. I also really appreciated that there were four closets, giving us plenty of room for coats and belongings. Aside from the room size, the service is the best part about this hotel. Every staff interaction we had was top notch. Every server, bellman, etc. The doorman and the front desk person especially made our family feel super special. They interacted with and played with my kids, even making up secret handshakes with them for every time we would return from an outing each day. We just felt like service was always above and beyond here.

If I had to make one suggestion, and it’s super minor, but it would have been great if there was a smart TV in the room allowing us to use Netflix etc. The TV has old fashioned cable channels and expensive on demand movies that don’t always stream properly. Not a big deal though - my kids still found things to watch during downtime.

All in all, we will most...
