I visited Takahachi Bakery, and unfortunately, my experience left me feeling quite underwhelmed. I had high hopes for this establishment, known for its Japanese baked goods, but my visit didn’t quite meet my expectations.
I decided to stop by toward the end of the day, which may have contributed to my impression, as the selection was notably limited. I found myself wishing for more variety, as the offerings seemed sparse and less enticing than I anticipated. Additionally, the cleanliness of the space was a concern; there were a few areas that felt a bit dirty, which detracted from the overall experience.
On a positive note, I ordered the cherry tea, which was delicious and refreshing. It had a lovely flavor that brightened my mood amidst my other disappointments. However, the matcha parfait I tried was a letdown. It was dry and lacked the richness I expected, making it difficult to enjoy. In fact, I only managed to eat half of it before deciding to toss the rest away—a rare occurrence for me when it comes to desserts.
Overall, my visit to Takahachi Bakery did not live up to the reputation it has garnered. While the cherry tea was a highlight, the limited selection, cleanliness issues, and the disappointing matcha parfait left much to be desired. I hope to give it another chance in the future, perhaps earlier in the day when the selection is fresher and more abundant. For now, I can’t say I would recommend it based on...
Read moreA must try Japanese place If you're looking to experience the charm of a Japanese bakery. Located on Murray street, this bakery offers an impressive selection of Japanese-inspired pastries that are both unique and delicious.
I had the Coconut Cream Bun, and it was absolutely delightful. The bun was soft and fluffy, filled with a light and creamy coconut filling that had just the right amount of sweetness. Every bite was rich, yet not overwhelming—perfect for anyone who enjoys tropical flavors.
What truly sets Takahachi apart is the wide variety of pastries they offer. From savory options like curry buns to sweet treats like matcha-flavored pastries, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood for something traditional or looking to try something new, the options are great.
The ambiance adds to the experience—it's cozy, warm, and inviting, making it an ideal spot to enjoy your pastry with a coffee or tea while unwinding. The relaxing atmosphere makes it a great place to stop by, whether you're grabbing something on the go or looking to enjoy a quiet moment.
Entrance faces southwest and is wheel chair accessible. Clean restrooms.
I recommend this gem and with so many pastries to choose from I will definitely...
Read moreThis place is special. I assumed it’s just an asian bakery until I gave it another chance. After reading reviews it seems I’m not alone in that assumption. They do have the typical Asian bakery goods and they have real food. They also have the special stuff like “miso almond butter cookies” which probably win their customers like crazy because it’s sold out when I was there.
They have free water. :)
They have coffee and a standing bar to eat quickly.
Atmosphere: it’s casual and friendly. Wood interior translates to a cozy and relaxing environment to eat. You will find tons of people sitting there for hours with one drink and texting on their phones.
Service: fast, poignant, friendly. They’re all great to you. It’s a busy place and I’ve never seen any of the staff act inappropriate.
Food: so good. I wouldn’t eat the croissants nor some of the breaded stuff. It’s so obvious you should have croissants from an Asian bakery when the French bakery is two blocks away. Common sense. So eat what makes sense like the asian baked goods and you will save yourself disappointment.
I hope you...
