I've been coming here for months, and I have to say, Burger Village is a god-send. I rarely eat out in NYC because alot of places , even the restaurants considered 'good' use terrible quality meat (the factory farmed stuff), GMO produce or are too expensive. BV does great work by having great quality meats (grass fed beef, pastured chicken etc.) AND produce while maintaining a very fair price point.
The chicken tenders are more like chicken chunks, but I don't care because they are tender and flavorful with excellent breading. The burgers are usually seasoned well though there have been 2 or so occasions where the patty itself wasn't seasoned well. They have classic toppings for your burgers (pickles, onions, american cheese etc.) which you can add at no cost to you, or you can try their 'Signature Pairs' which are toppings like sauteed mushroom, a fried egg and bacon, to name a few. Their sodas are great too. I recommend the root beer and strawberry lemonade. Their onion rings are impeccable. Seriously perfect. Their sauces are also delicious (you must try the roasted garlic aioli!!!) Their deep fried food is fried in a Non-GMO rice bran oil.
Service here is generally good (have had 5 or so different servers) with Diana being the only server whom I felt was great. Food comes out at a good pace. They have a good loyalty rewards program as well.
Burger Village will be having my money for as long as I'm in NYC. It is a disservice to society when many restaurants are considered good but the quality of their ingredients is low. Burger Village is an example of what every restaurant should be aiming to do (at least in terms of...
Read moreIf you have a gluten allergy don't come here. The menu is very menu friendly but servers and cook staff don't take allergens seriously. Notified our waitress multiple times of my gluten allergy and oreded an elk burger with GF bun. I ordered a runny fried egg whicj needed up coming hard on a regular bun. The burger was returned and they just switched the bun and refried the egg. They still didn't get it right. The egg EA still hard the burger was like warm and cross contaminated as they didn't redo the order. I took two bites and returned. The fries were 4 out of 5. The burger was 1 out of 5 and the service was negative 50 out of 5. My night was horrible because of her lack of regognizing gluten allergies are real. Worst meal experience ever. Never again. My wife ordered a gluten free bun but they bought a regular bun. Thank goodness she didn't have a gluten allergy. She said the burger lacked flavor and had to add lots of salt. How is this place rated 4.7. I have no idea. The short Indian server with a lisps needs to be retrained on allergen controls and doesn't know the menu. Says the GF bin was really good it was exceptionally bad. Waste of time and money and cause a medical issue...
Read moreI rarely write an unfavorable review. The music was too loud. Why do they assume people want to listen to bad music while dining.
I had tater tots which were just okay. The honey mustard sauce was more spicy than I would have liked so there was no honey sweetness. The gluten free bun was not good and the taste over powered the taste of the burger.
I had the Impossible burger which I have had other places and usually like it. Between the bad tasting bun, onions, mushrooms and cheese I could not really taste the burger. The add-ons should complement a burger and make the taste of the burger more scrumptious. However, that kind of blend was not there for me.
The staff were friendly although extremely busy. Only saw my wait person when I ordered and then when I was done. She was wonderful and had many others to wait on.
It seems the big push is for drinks which seems fine. Drinks are big money makers.
With a tip the cost was $32. I guess for inflationary times and the area is a fair price. However, that was without a drink, just the burger, gluten free bun, tots, shrooms and onions.
Anyway, maybe I will give them another shot one day and try...
