I being coming here for about 8 years. I never had any bad experience before. However, recently today April 28 2021. I had a a very bad a experience with their employees. Before, Let's just say in the early morning there was a Spanish lady that was very nice and take your orders with no problem. After all business is business. However, this morning after 8:30AM the issue started with a spanish employee who said "He dont understand English language?" So how many English languages are there? Why his working there if he doesn't know english?
The order was very simple to understand as I'm writing it. 1.Bagel Bacon, Egg, and Cheese with Tomato,Large Ice Coffee. 2.The second ordered was fry eggs not sunny up, avocado, and fry toast with tea. Spanish guy there who serve said again he don't know English-speaking language. He didn't take the ordered, and he rip the paper or something and neglected the ordered to someone else. I don't understand when there is a simple ordered why his trying to discriminate? After the same Spanish guy went to help his own Spanish and talk and Spanish to other customers thats not discrimination? To me it is being discriminating. In addition, 8 years coming to this restaurant and until Now this place have issues with english speaking customers? So why after so many years of coming my orders have being taking in english speaking and in writing english without any problems at all.
Furthermore, the white girl with pink hair continued to talk about how we dont know english? So why for a Spanish employee who works there don't help english speaking customers only Spanish speaking customers? Doesn't make sense? Afterwards, she continues to talk about how we dont know English. She even cursed us out, and said F ing sit down or F ing get out. What a bad customer services they have in Taste Cafe & Grill.
Not only the order was neglected. It was discriminating by a word called english when Spanish guy only helps his own speaking Spanish people. In top of the customers get cursed because just maybe we customers don't know how to cursed them out. I'm not saying cursed the employees out but since they discriminate and cursed customers out maybe the employees need the same treatment back.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all. Again this place waited until after 8 years to tell me that they have issues with english speaking customers that they won't take my orders. So what happen in the 8 years I being a customer to this place? They took my orders before, and had absolutely no problems with my english,now what happen?
In the other hand, The other lady in the morning was very polite and nice. She takes customers orders ASAP without any problems. She was a Spanish lady who served all customers alike and she spoke both english and spanish to any customers to help them with their order. She meant business. This what Taste Cafe & Grilled should mean.
I probably won't be coming back here unless their employees are more polite and know how to treat their customers. Or they get new employees who are willing to serve their customers the appropriate ways by business efforts. And are willing to work for their customers and their business company Taste...
Read moreOkay so I liked this place walking in.. Theodora behind the counter has that mediterranean openness that the Greeks share with Italians and others whose countries touch that sea. One glance at her and I felt at home. Truth is she reminded me of my own Italian family.
So I bought the burger special to go. And when I got home it was a pleasant surprise.
The French fries were outstanding. Meaning they literally stand out and apart from everything I've tasted in the last 2 weeks Eating in queens Chinese places, diners et cetera. Everyone except this place must use the same formula or the same oil at least.
Not so with taste cafe.
I don't know how to describe it other than to say the french fries were tender and tasty. It's like they weren't even deep fried or something. Very nice
When it came to the burger itself I was also pleased. While not amazing (it was overcooked) it was good with a permiating smokeyness.
I like the feel of the place as well. It's been part of the local landscape for decades, dating back to when this was a thoroughly Italian neighborhood. It's local character is clear from the small talk between regular patrons and the staff. Some folks wandering off the street just to say hello...
So this is more than a cute little dine in/take out place; It's a step back into Queen's history, and a part of local Queens at present.

Read moreHad a mix up with delivery. Driver must have dropped food at wrong address but didnt admit it. I would have tipped him if he was honest. I called Taste after he left in a hurry to find my misdelivered order. The lady who answered was very nice. Excellent customer service. I explained to her my issue and she put in another order. After about 30 minutes the delivery guy was back with my misplaced delivery. He put his head down as he handed me the order. No apology. No admittance to his mistake. About 15 minutes later he called me to say he made a mistake and was bringing my order. I saod No thanks bc I already had my food. I hope next time he is just hinest about his mistakes. I hate liars!
