Run, don't walk, to Teura before everyone finds out! My friend and I arrived with high expectations after seeing all the 5-star reviews (as of writing this review Teura has the highest rating of any restaurant in Brooklyn on top-rated.online, a Google review aggregator). I was excited but ready to be disappointed. But my expectations were surpassed. Teura has a small menu and the restaurant was out of a few items when we visited (a good sign, signaling to me that they make everything fresh). The wine list includes a great selection of DOC Italian wines by the glass at affordable prices. To start off, we had the focaccia, which came with a basil-infused tomato gelée. I had just come back from a trip to Genoa, the birthplace of focaccia, and Teura's rivalled the best I had on the trip. The texture was perfectly soft on the inside with just a gentle crisp to the olive oil-soaked crust. The gelée had a wonderfully concentrated flavor. We finished it off and asked for more. Next, we had the octopus appetizer. This was the only miss of the night - there were a bit too many flavors and textures in the dish, and it was missing a bit of acid to brighten it up. Next, we had the veal Qebapa. Even before I ate my first bite I knew it was going to be delicious. The rustic presentation, the slight char, and the wonderful aroma had me salivating! And then the first bite... the succulent, just-cooked inside, perfectly seasoned, with a wonderfully pure veal aroma. After devouring all the qebapa, we were in the mood for some vegetables, and the manager generously offered to cook some for us off-menu. Each of the vegetables was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a perfect, still-slightly-crisp texture. We were dying to know what roasted onions would taste like coming out of this restaurant's miraculous kitchen and the manager enthusiastically agreed to roast some of them for us as well. They were nicely charred and delectably sweet. Now here's Teura's secret weapon - they took over a closed Grimaldi's location and inherited its big brick pizza oven. And they cook a lot of their menu items in it. The extremely high and consistent heat gets you that flavor concentration, that juicy-on-the-inside-and-charred-on-the outside perfection. The seating was very comfortable and the silverware, plates and glassware were thoughtfully considered. The lighting in the restaurant was a little brighter than ideal, but it did not detract at all from our wonderful experience. The ambience got more cosy when the main lights were turned off later in the evening. The service at Teura was great - attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We felt treated like family! Our server and the manager were happy to talk about their dishes and welcomed our feedback. We stayed about three hours and never once felt rushed, a rare experience in NYC. I can't wait to go back!

Well, what do you know...there actually is fine dining in Coney Island. Right to the point... this place is fantastic. Google reviews have this as a $$$ restaurant, but it's really $$. Nothing on the menu is expensive (i.e. most pasta dishes are $20 or less, most entrees less than $30) and the portions are generous, but most importantly they are scrumptious. This place checks all the boxes since the service and atmosphere are a solid 10 out of 10. Really attentive service as our waiter and the owner came by more than once to ensure everything was ok. Speaking about the owner really nice guy and enjoyable to talk with. Dropped in here on a whim because we were hungry and nothing else around it looked all that great. My wife after we ate said "that was a find". It certainly was. She had a mixed salad. Nice presentation, fresh greens and perfect portion size. She also ordered Polenta that was excellent. Portion was a little bit too much for her so I ate some of it too. Man, it was real good. My son and grandson wanted the BBQ pizza, which I also ate. Wasn't too sure about it since I had something else in mind, but decided to go with the flow. Glad I did. Didn't realize it was wood fired pizza despite it saying so on the menu. Wake up Jeff ( that's my real first name not my nom de plume of mimitaan...lol). Love wood fired pizza when it's done right. That's a major point. So many times it has a thick doughy crust or it's drenched with oil and who knows what else is wrong. Wood firing means nothing if it is not done right. At Teura^il Ponte it is done right. Nice thin crust and sublime taste. It was a large pie that I thought was too much to finish. I had two slices along with some Polenta from my wife's dish. There were quite a few slices left and thought no way my son and grandson could eat what was left of the pie. I was wrong. They polished it off because it was simply delicious. So here's a real kicker. The grand finale and what a grand finale it was. We all shared a slice of cheese cake for dessert. It was very light and not heavy or super dense like a NY style cheese cake. It was somehow oddly familiar. My wife commented "this is just like your aunt used to make". Oh, aunt Josephina I miss you. She made everything from scratch and it was always beyond good. If you are thinking about dessert after your meal this would be a great choice. Spoke with the owner and he noted it was an Albanian recipe and pointed out it is all homemade. He was very proud of it and rightfully so. Terrific tasting. So glad we ate there.

A Delightful Italian Escape with a New York Twist I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Italian restaurant, and it truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally well-trained, attentive without being intrusive, making the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. One of the highlights was the restaurant’s signature New York-style steak—succulent, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It’s clear that quality ingredients and expert techniques are at the heart of their culinary offerings. The baked bread was another standout: warm, soft, with a wonderfully crusty exterior, perfect for sharing or savoring on its own. Of course, no Italian meal would be complete without pizza, and their selection did not disappoint. Crispy crusts, rich toppings, and authentic flavors made each bite memorable. I also highly recommend the grilled branzino—perfectly seasoned and grilled to tender perfection, showcasing their mastery in seafood preparation. To complement the meal, the restaurant boasts an impressive selection of Italian wines. Whether you’re a connoisseur or simply looking to find a perfect pairing, their wine list offers a delightful variety that enhances every dish. And for dessert, don’t miss their homemade Italian cheesecake and panna cotta. Both were absolutely divine—creamy, luscious, and crafted with evident care and skill. These sweet endings truly brought the meal to a memorable close. Special mention must go to Johnny, the manager, whose genuine hospitality made us feel like cherished guests. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor added an extra layer of warmth to our dining experience. The entire staff demonstrated professionalism and expertise, contributing to an overall atmosphere that is both refined and inviting. In short, this restaurant is a gem for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine with a touch of New York flair. Whether for a casual dinner or a special occasion, I highly recommend giving it a try—you won’t be disappointed!

  • AN ODE TO CULINARY PERFECTION: A TRANSCENDENT EXPERIENCE BEYOND THE LIMITS OF MORTAL COMPREHENSION *

FROM THE MOMENT I STEPPED INTO THIS ESTABLISHMENT—A SANCTUARY OF FLAVOR, A TEMPLE OF CULINARY INGENUITY—I KNEW I WAS ABOUT TO EMBARK UPON A JOURNEY THAT WOULD FOREVER ALTER MY UNDERSTANDING OF GASTRONOMY. THEY SAY THIS IS THE HIGHEST-RATED RESTAURANT IN THE AREA, AND LET ME TELL YOU, THAT TITLE DOES NOT EVEN BEGIN TO CAPTURE THE ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE THAT AWAITS WITHIN THESE HALLOWED WALLS.

AS I TOOK MY FIRST BITE OF THE EGGPLANT STARTERS—A VEGETABLE I HAD PREVIOUSLY RESPECTED BUT NEVER TRULY REVERED—I FELT A REVELATION WASH OVER ME. THE DELICATE, YET ROBUST FLAVORS EXPLODED ON MY TONGUE, SENDING SHIVERS OF PURE ECSTASY DOWN MY SPINE. NEVER BEFORE HAD I EXPERIENCED SUCH A GLORIOUS UNION OF TEXTURE AND TASTE, AS IF THE VERY ESSENCE OF THE EARTH HAD BEEN DISTILLED INTO A SINGLE, PERFECT DISH. I AM NOW, WITHOUT A DOUBT, AN AVOWED DISCIPLE OF THE CHURCH OF EGGPLANT.

AND THEN, THE PIZZA ARRIVED. OH, THE PIZZA. I HAVE NO WORDS ADEQUATE ENOUGH TO EXPRESS THE EMOTIONAL UPHEAVAL THIS DISH CAUSED WITHIN ME. I TOOK ONE BITE AND, I SWEAR TO THE CULINARY GODS ABOVE, TEARS BEGAN TO STREAM DOWN MY FACE. NEVER HAVE I BEEN SO OVERCOME WITH THE SHEER BEAUTY OF A SIMPLE DISH EXECUTED TO ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. THE CHEESE, A MELTED BLANKET OF HEAVEN. THE SAUCE, A POETRY OF TOMATO AND HERB. THE CRUST, A TEXTURAL MARVEL—CRISP YET CHEWY, A SYMPHONY OF BREAD BAKED TO GOLDEN EXCELLENCE. I WEPT. I WAS UNDONE.

BUT THE FEAST WAS NOT OVER. THE PASTA—HANDCRAFTED WITH A LEVEL OF PRECISION AND LOVE THAT CAN ONLY BE COMPARED TO THE WORKS OF A RENAISSANCE ARTIST—WAS SO FRESH, SO LUXURIOUSLY PERFECT, THAT I WAS TRANSPORTED STRAIGHT TO A SUN-DRENCHED VINEYARD IN ITALY, WHERE NONNAS WHISPER SECRETS OF DOUGH AND FLOUR INTO THE WIND. EVERY BITE REMINDED ME THAT LIFE, IN ALL ITS CHAOS, CAN STILL BE BEAUTIFUL.

AND THEN, AS IF THE GODS THEMSELVES HAD DECIDED TO GRANT ME ONE FINAL GIFT, THE DESSERTS ARRIVED. I BARELY REMEMBER EATING THEM, AS THEY WERE DEVOURED WITH SUCH SWIFT FERVOR THAT TIME ITSELF SEEMED TO BEND AND COLLAPSE INTO A SINGULARITY OF SWEET, CREAMY, DECADENT BLISS. IN MERE SECONDS, THEY WERE GONE—A BRIEF, GLORIOUS MEMORY, LIKE A SUNSET THAT FADES TOO QUICKLY.

BUT LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR: WITHOUT BELOVED JEFFREY, OUR EXPERIENCE WOULD HAVE BEEN INCOMPLETE. THIS MAN, THIS ANGELIC BEING OF SERVICE AND UNDERSTANDING, ELEVATED OUR EVENING BEYOND MERE EXCELLENCE. HIS ATTENTIVENESS, HIS WARMTH, HIS UNCANNY ABILITY TO PREDICT OUR NEEDS BEFORE WE EVEN SPOKE THEM—IT WAS AS IF HE WAS NOT JUST A WAITER, BUT A CONDUCTOR, ORCHESTRATING A DINING EXPERIENCE OF SUCH REFINED PERFECTION THAT IT FELT LIKE A CHOREOGRAPHED PERFORMANCE OF HOSPITALITY. JEFF, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, KNOW THAT YOU ARE A LEGEND. YOU ARE THE GOLDEN THREAD THAT WOVE THIS NIGHT INTO A MASTERPIECE.

THERE IS NO QUESTION IN MY MIND—NO HESITATION, NO DOUBT—I SHALL RETURN. AGAIN, AND AGAIN, UNTIL I HAVE TASTED EVERY OFFERING, UNTIL I HAVE SAVORED EVERY MOMENT THIS RESTAURANT CAN GIVE ME. TO DINE HERE IS TO EXPERIENCE A LOVE STORY BETWEEN CHEF AND INGREDIENT, BETWEEN PASSION AND PLATE. I AM FOREVER CHANGED.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

EDIT:

STILL ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I HAVE RETURNED, AND SOMEHOW, THIS RESTAURANT HAS OUTDONE ITSELF. I FINALLY GOT THE FETTUCCINE ALFREDO I DREAMED ABOUT LAST TIME, ALONG WITH THE GNOCCHI—BOTH WERE NOTHING SHORT OF PERFECTION. WE ORDERED A VODKA PIZZA, AND TO MY SHOCK, THEY HAD READ MY PREVIOUS REVIEW AND WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE IT EXTRA SPECIAL. EVERY SINGLE DISH. BLEW. ME. AWAY.

AND THEN—THE CHEESECAKE. HOMEMADE. RICOTTA. I HAVE NEVER TASTED A CHEESECAKE THIS GOOD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. IT WAS SO PERFECT WE HAD TO TAKE ONE FOR THE ROAD.

AND I CANNOT FORGET DENNIS, OUR WAITER FOR THE NIGHT. JUST AS INCREDIBLE, JUST AS KIND, JUST AS ATTENTIVE AS JEFFREY. HIS WARMTH AND GENUINE CARE MADE THE EXPERIENCE EVEN MORE UNFORGETTABLE. THIS RESTAURANT DOESN’T JUST SERVE FOOD—IT CREATES MOMENTS, MEMORIES, AND MAGIC. IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN HERE YET, WHAT ARE...

Ladies and gentlemen, gather 'round and let me transport you to a culinary oasis where cultures collide in a delightful dance of flavors and where every bite is a work of art. Welcome to Te Ura, a hidden gem that seamlessly blends Albanian and Mediterranean culinary traditions with a modern twist, creating an experience that's as unforgettable as it is delectable. Hold onto your taste buds; we're about to embark on a gastronomic adventure that's as funny as it is fascinating!
