My mother and daughters and two friends were there yesterday. They ordered food and drinks at the same time. The waiter, Marcus, had an attitude. The food came, items were missing, then when the other items did come, almost 15 minutes later, they were cold, drinks came after the meal. No drinks?! No water?! Really?! The coffee finally comes, no creamer. So my daughter asks for the manager, a guy comes overt and when my daughter asks if he’s the manager he responds by saying “Maybe.” What?! He never actually confirmed that he was the manager. When asked again he said “Yeah, I wasn’t kidding.” Unbelievable. My daughter proceeds to tell him that the waiter was not doing his job properly. The “manager” taps the waiter and says “I guess I gotta fire you.” The waiter laughs and says “Oh dang, ok” they dap each other up and then just walk off. So now my mom is just ready to leave and these two clowns had to be called over again so they could pay. They even messed up the bill. They charged the ridiculously over priced $120 meal but somehow missed $1.96 when asked about it the waiter couldn’t account for the $1.96. My mother repeatedly asked what the $1.96 was for and he said “I don’t know, maybe tax.” My mother felt at that point that maybe he was trying to scam them and told him that if he could not show what the charge was for she was not going to give him her card again to pay it. He told her she had to pay it and the “manager” told him that if she didn’t pay not to let her leave. My mother and daughters got up to leave and as my mother goes to push open the door this waiter goes over and places his arm between my mother and the door, with his forearm resting on her throat. He would not let her pass. My mother is 70 years old! The other girls and my daughters had to push him and get him off of her and after a couple very tense scary minutes for my mom, they were able to get her out the door. Today we noticed that my mother’s card was charged an extra $10. As I type this all out it’s still really hard to believe even though I know these women and I know it happened. We’re looking to get a hold of someone in the corporate offices to lodge a formal complaint because this is unbelievable, unacceptable and totally reprehensible. Horrible experience. Avoid this place...
Read moreI walked into the Coney Island location and it was packed which is to be expected because it’s Saturday. The line to be seated was on the longer side but I had to go to the bathroom so I headed straight for the restroom. I was in such a rush that I almost ran into the women’s room but the young man caught me in time and told me the bathrooms are only for customers. I told him I was gonna buy I just had to go first I could hardly stand still. The young man proceeded to stretch out his arms and block the bathroom demanding that I was not allowed to use it. I explained to him I was planning on sitting down and buying pancakes which is why I came all the way to the International House Of Pancakes. To see the petite Asian young boy physically block the front of the door was disgusting and unprofessional. I’m almost 50 and I have never been so embarrassed or humiliated. There were tons of people in line watching. One of the other employees said that’s what they were told to do. Deny them access to the restroom maybe but not physically. After going to the bathroom and being seated I sat there for about 10 min but there was no way I was gonna spend my money there after that incident. When I talked to the Manager before I left she had no apologies she offer a few Ok’s being very dismissive. She told me I didn’t know what they go through with the bathroom. I also know that if I wasn’t a black male I wouldn’t have gone through that. This is not my first incident with the Asian young man it was actually because of him I said I wasn’t coming back previously. I had two really good experiences when he wasn’t there I thought I’d be ok. If the tall Mexican lady with the red lipstick was really the manager that’s sad and I hope they get someone with better customer service and problem skills. If she does tell them to block the door that’s dangerous and that could’ve ended bad based on her...
Read moreZero stars. This place doesn't even meet the minimum requirements for a chain restaurant. Spoke to the manager a month ago about bad service from our server and her response was shes gotten a few complaints about the same server and maybe she was having a bad day!? Waited 45 minutes for food, no offer of a refill on beverages or water, she didn't even deliver the food or ask at any point if the order was okay, which it wasn't. Neither of us could eat the food due to dietary restrictions, and the manager didn't even offer to adjust the bill. Ten minutes after receiving the food she handed us the bill without a word and didn't even notice the full plates. This time around we were quoted 10 minutes by the hostess which was doubled at least. We were brought to a table after we requested a booth, due to recent back surgery. The response was ok ill put you here but now i need to find someone to wait on your table. Up to an hour wait for a large party but their biggest section isn't open? The table to our right was being assisted by a manager because they waited over an hour for their food and it was still incorrect. The table to our left was seated ten minutes after us, ordered, received and ate their food, then paid the bill and hung out for a few minutes before we received any word on our order. The server came by to say the food would be out shortly then someone came and gave us part of our order to go. We were going to ask for a manager but knew it wouldn't get us anywhere and that we would just be told they were busy and short staffed as usual. The management in this place is a joke and the corporate company clearly doesn't care about its reputation. Mediocre food and terrible service, not...
