This is going to be long. So let’s talk about it.
I’ve been searching for some good West Indian food since I moved to Queens a few months ago. Came across this randomly since I wanted some Trini style food( my fiancee is Trini) and seen the reviews looking righteous. I took some time observing reviews as they came in and I decided hell, why not. I ordered jerk pork with “fried rice”, “Mac salad” , and a side of mango chutney wings. I ordered when they opened at 1130. Pick up time was initially 1145… a few minutes later it turned to 1230(this is a good sign when you order from West Indian establishment- btw I’m West Indian myself. Shoutout DA 🇩🇲) . When I finally went to pick up, of course it wasn’t ready but that’s for a good reason, that food needs time to cook properly! When I got it around 1240, I drove home thinking it would be cold. Man that food was still warm waiting for me to enjoy.
First of all, Mac salad 10/10. I’m not crazy about Mac and potato salad but this Mac salad was subtle but flavorful and not over bearing … best I’ve ever had. I then tried the “fried rice” which I’m very familiar with. I just think it’s not really “fried” and yes that must be a West Indian thing but I’ll stick to my East Asians for that…
But let’s continue. That jerk pork. My lord. That was something I will never forget. I’ve had many variations of jerk pork and this was by far the best I’ve had. Not sure if they are putting crack in this one since I’m writing a long review but man that was amazing, just wish I had more. The flavors were vibrant, intense , sweet and spicy at the same time. It was just amazing 10/10.
Mango chutney wings were pretty damn good and still warm. Decent but could have used a little bit more sauce to turn them up (they are not spicy if you’re scared) 8/10 .
I’m still looking for more interesting places to try. I will always come back here. This is a solid yes if you want some good family style back yard summer West Indian food. It hit all the avenues that I know my family would have when I go to DA or St Croix 10/10 spot...
Read moreI recently visited Trini Kitchen and tried their fried snapper. Let me just say, it was seasoned to perfection! The fish was huge, and while I personally don’t love the head, next time I’ll ask for it to be removed. The best part? It was cooked so well that I couldn’t stop eating it.
The steamed vegetables were a pleasant surprise, especially since they held up perfectly after a 20-minute ride in traffic. They still had a nice crunch to them! The sauces, particularly the hot pepper one, are top-notch. It’s definitely spicy, so I had to tread carefully, but they’re packed with flavor. I appreciate that they offer different spice levels to suit everyone’s taste.
As for the macaroni pie, it was good but could’ve used a bit more cheese for my liking. That said, I’ll definitely try another side next time. The salad was fresh and balanced out the meal nicely.
Overall, Trini Kitchen is definitely worth a visit. I’d rate my experience a 9 out of 10 and am looking forward...
Read moreIf you’re looking for real-deal Trinidadian BBQ that hits all the right notes, this spot is it. From the moment you walk in, the smoky aroma wraps you up like a warm Caribbean breeze — you just know something good going on the grill.
The jerk chicken? Perfectly seasoned with that smoky, spicy kick that lingers in the best way. The pigtail was tender with that charred edge that Trinis live for, and don’t even get me started on the BBQ lamb — juicy, rich, and full of flavor. Every bite tastes like it was made with love and a whole lotta lime, pepper, and vibes.
The sides were just as impressive — creamy macaroni pie, fresh coleslaw, and fluffy fry bake that could hold its own. Plus, the pepper sauce? Lethal in the best way. 🔥
The staff was welcoming, the music was sweet, and the whole experience felt like a backyard lime with old friends.
If you’re craving authentic Trini BBQ with real flavor and real heart, this is the spot. 10/10 — I leaving full and happy every...
