I went to this Popeyes location close to their closing time. Now I already know to expect minimal food and customer service with less than an hour till posted closing time. When I went in, there was only 1 couple in front of me. They placed their order and sat down to wait. I was greeted (if you want to actually call it that) by a female worker. She tells me that they only have tenders, no chicken pieces. Well, that was great for me because that's exactly what I wanted. So I ask her, what specials do they have for the tenders. She tells me I can only get a 4 piece. I'm baffled by that and had to ask her again, what are the specials on the tenders. She again tells me that they only have a 4pc with something, I actually stopped listening to her. I pull out my phone to look at the Popeyes app to see what specials they have, when a male employee comes up. I ask him if it's possible to get the 14pc tenders meal and he says yes, that's not a problem. Of course I cut my eyes at the female employee who told me I can only get a 4pc meal, but I didn't say a word to her. Anyway... I had to wait about 10mins for the tenders to be ready. The Male employee packaged my food up and threw in a few extra pieces of tenders since it was closing time. Yay for me! He hands me my food and I ask for BBQ sauce. He gives me 3 sauces for 14+ tenders. I had to ask him for more and he only gives me one extra. I don't know why he wanted to be so stingy, but whatever. I grabbed my food and left. Over all, I will say that if in the neighborhood I might go back to this location if I'm in the mood for Popeyes. I'd rather go somewhere else if I can make it before closing, but if not I'll come back here and be prepared for just...
Read moreOn several occasions I have had a horrible experience at the located at 142street on Rockaway boulevard. As a AGM myself I am just disgusted at how many times the level of service at this specific ovation has been extremely poor. On two occasions l visited the resturant around 10 pm on Sat&Friday and they were out of Chicken with only tenders left. On both occasions the general manager informs me that he will not drop anymore chicken although it was 2 hours prior to closing. Today I walked in and ordered the $5 Big box ,without me even completing my order the cashier informs me that only dark meat comes with the box. I went back outside looked at the fine prints and came back inside and looked at the indoor signs . Being a loyal customer of Popeyes,I had knowledge on what was included in the box. Being that I only eat the breast and wing I was confused as to why the cashier would inform me that it only comes with leg and thigh when all the signs say MIXED chicken or 3 piece tenders. I then asked to speak with the general manger he also informs me that it does not comes with mixed chicken. This is now False advertisement !! On every occasion of bad service I've spoke with the GM ,not AGM or shift supervisor the GM! That GM should not be a GM quite frankly I wouldn't want him in my company. His service is poor , his training is extremely poor and clearly he does not want to execute sales. How are you gonna make money if you have nothing to sell!!!!!! That alone just get to me your store is basically closed at that point. Although there is still 2 hours left till closing ,now it's false advertising ....
Read moreA discussion needs to be had about, well not just this particular location (which is only a 5 minute walk from home) but maybe the franchise in general. Or maybe it's just the Popeyes locations in the greater NYC area because everyone I've been to is Mid at best to down atrocious at worst.
I'll start with the good news, the place does look clean, at least clean enough for a food critic to randomly show up and not feel suspicious about the sight of the place. Now I'm at the part where I start hammering at this place. The service is bad, like Burger King in Brooklyn and The Bronx bad. I've had orders messed up, mixed up, sent in late and at one time had chicken tenders that weren't completely cooked so the service here CLEARLY leaves a lot to be desired.
The food is average, when it's done, it's done well but nowadays that's starting to get sloppy and I'd say this all started when the whole Uber Eats and Doordash options became a mainstay to the place around 2020. I miss when there were more options to choose from. Cajun Rice used to be my favorite side dish but they've since discontinued that.
In this case, this place warrants a 1 star but the only reason I'm putting this as a 2 star review is because when I started coming here 8 years ago, this was a much better establishment, suitable enough to be a 4 star but those days are long gone, I wonder if there was a change in management because this place just isn't as good as...
