Tropical Restaurant 4 — Restaurant in New York

I recently ordered here and the experience was not the best to say the least. I ordered on UberEats at approximately 6:30pm and it said it should be ready 6:50pm. I arrived at 6:45pm in case the food was ready early. I asked one of the waitresses if my order was ready and she said 10 minutes. At 6:55pm I asked another waitress and she said “it’s almost ready” with some attitude which I was confused by. At 7:05pm I asked the first waitress if my food was ready and she said with attitude “I said 10 minutes” even though it had been 20 minutes already. Also, never once did they check with the kitchen staff to ask for a precise time, instead just saying a number and then going back to their conversation with each other. Finally I got my food around 7:10 pm and the waitress didn’t even acknowledge the extra time, just gave me my food and walked away. I understand that this was not in their control, I was not rude however so there was no need to be disrespectful. We are all going through tough times and we should help restaurants. But only those that show respect to their customers which is why I don’t recommend this place to anyone who wants to be treated with respect by the...

This place gets 1 star for the food being flavorful but that's as far as the positive go. The portions are okay but honestly everything else about this place is trash. The waitresses are the most careless waitstaff I've ever dealt with. The waitress knew nothing about the menu. We asked basic questions about what sides come with certain dishes and what was in certain dishes. Zilch. She knew nothing. She didn't know what drinks they could make at the "bar" which isn't even a bar. Just piled with stuff all over it. The waitress took a phone call while bringing food to the table. Another person had to take over while our original server stood within earshot as she stayed on the phone. Beware they add a 15% gratuity to the bill. Needless to say that was annoying cause the service didn't deserve 15%. Really embarrassed that this place is Ecuadorian. The food is excellent and the price is affordable. BUT the waitress they think that can play people around with money charging tips twice. I was never given my detail recipe and then she approached with the card machine and said 68.11 would you like to leave a tip and I said yes of course. She never mentioned that the 68.11 was already included a 15% service. Out of no where I ended getting a receipts for 82 dollars … I wonder why.
