This is the second time I have been here. I didn’t realize this was the same place I went 2 years ago when I made my new appt this year. The first time I went the front desk staff were not very nice and were very pushy to have me purchase my contacts and glasses through their store. I always get my contacts online from Europe because they are much more affordable. They kept giving me an attitude about not buying from them. Then they held my prescription hostage for weeks saying they would send it to me but never did until finally the owner emailed it to me. I had an appt today and when I told them I needed an eye exam for contact lenses they said my insurance does not cover an eye exam for contact lenses only glasses. I was then told that I would get $75 off on my contacts if I order through them. I also knew they lied about my insurance because I checked my explanation of benefits and contacted my insurance company and they said that I am covered for an eye exam with contact lenses or glasses which I already knew. I tried to ask if I can do a regular eye exam for contacts and not glasses and she still told me no it isn’t covered. This sounds like a scam to me. For a place to lie about coverage and then try to get you to buy through them? Scam. Go see Dr Beatrice Whitaker instead at Focus Eye and Surgery which is where I meant to make my appt. She is a GEM, honest, and gave me my prescription to buy my lenses without me asking. Never once asked me to buy anything through their store.

If you need the many emails I had to send just to get my rx I would be happy to attach them here. Once again, 1199 DOES cover contact lenses, you just choose not to honor that benefit. You don’t know how your staff treat me because you were not there. This is not a get even post this is just a bad review that you don’t want to hear. I am not trying to ruin your business. I truly believe that you take advantage of people. It’s not my fault that you were shady and got a bad review. My experience 2 years ago was so bad but I didn’t write a review. When I had the same experience again, I said okay I have to write a review. You can do your angry shouty caps at me but it still doesn’t take away the fact that my personal experiences with your business were sub par. I even called before my appt to confirm that I was due for an eye exam. The person on the phone said they called my 1199 insurance and said yes I am due for one and would be covered. That was obviously incorrect which shows my insurance wasn’t contacted OR if they were, I was lied to because I had made a mistake and I actually was not due for an eye exam and what would have happened? My insurance would have rejected the claim and then you would bill me. What a defensive response you gave. You know what they say when people get overly defensive…..!...

You charged my insurance right? I still stand with my statement that your staff actually offer to generate receipt with FUTURE DATE. The doctor is very kind and professional but not true for their staff, especially a man with glasses at the storefront. He gave me an attitude when I asked him to give me my prescription along with my glasses. Then he treated me very rudely when I ask him to include my pd measurement in my prescription. He was like it's only for people who buy glasses there (He forgot for a sec that I actually bought glasses there). Then he wrote the measurement on my prescription with pen. He got mad because now I can use that prescription to order glasses from online like Zenni for much cheaper price. Plus they will force you a lot to choose more expensive glasses (or) add-ons than your insurance covers. I explained to them that I am joining a new company and they have better insurance so I want to wait for it and the SAME GUY tried to convince me that they can print the receipt in a FUTURE DATE so that I can claim the insurance with that receipt when I join the new job. Fortunately enough I found Eyellusion Vision Center
After booking an appointment and going to my initial visit the professional services I received by all the staff was absolutely fantastic
My first time there and my insurance was active, but I was not going to receive all the benefits I qualified for. This was due to the type of plan I had with my insurance.
I was lucky enough to walk into such an amazing practice because instead of keeping quiet and gate-keeping information and taking advantage of my situation
I felt like everyone stopped what they were doing to make sure I was aware of the benefits I was missing out on and walk me through how I could change my plan and take full advantage of all the benefits being under the proper insurance plan
They suggested I reschedule and come back when all was in order
I am now not only happy I’ve met such angels in my life, but I would want everyone who feels stuck or needs help to feel open to walking into this business and come to them with any questions you may have
They will not only help you, but you’ll also feel welcomed and want to go back for the genuine experience they have to offer
