COCKROACHES We have tried to fix this through Holiday Inn but they refuse to answer calls or Emails so I have decided to post this for future customers to be aware. Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in August 2024. When we checked in, we were assigned a room and brought in all of our luggage and got our kids settled. The next morning, we noticed a small bug creeping on one of the beds and I killed it. I didn't think anything of it at the time. We looked up bed bugs and it didn't look like a bed bug. A short time later, I was in the the washroom and saw a larger bug. I took a picture of that bug and killed it. I went to the front desk immediately and showed them the picture of the bug (which was a full grown cockroach). I was told that the Holiday Inn didn't have any other rooms available but that in the evening we could get a new room. We had to go to New York City and had a full day of site seeing planned with pre paid tickets so we couldn't stay at the hotel to change our rooms up. At the time, it seemed like the hotel wanted to help us out so we closed up all of our luggage and did our best. At 5 pm I called the hotel and talked to the male person that was working at the time. I explained the situation to him. I wanted to make sure we had a fresh room to sleep in when we came back to the hotel and he assured me that there would be a room set aside for us. At this time, my children, my wife and I were already stressed out as we recognized that our room had cockroaches in it. When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, the male employee that I talked to on the phone told me we couldn't get a new room. According to him, a flight had been cancelled at the airport and the hotel was sold out. I explained to him that I proactively called him at 5 pm to prevent such a situation and he told me he was sorry but there was nothing he could do as he doesn't control plane cancellations After 5 to 10 minutes of me pleading with the employee to give us a new room, I had to tell him that we would sleep in the lobby before he agreed to move us to a fresh room. To say I was annoyed at this situation is putting it lightly. We did everything in our power to ensure we had a clean room yet Holiday Inn was going to make us sleep in a room with cockroaches or in the lobby. When we reported this to management, Tanaya said she would give us Holiday Inn points into our loyalty account so we could stay 4 free nights at another HI. I thought that was fair. When we left, the points were not in our account. I have yet to receive those points. I have called the Hotel, spoken to lots of managers, sent Emails and no one seems to want to help with this situation. Essentially, we were told about points in our account so we wouldn't make a fuss while we stayed at the hotel but once we left, they did not fulfill their promise. So, attached is the picture of the cockroach. We ended up throwing out a suit case on the advice of an exterminator and getting our other suitcases cleaned/disinfected at our cost. We will never return to this hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and clean, with adjustable climate control. The decor was consistent with Holiday Inn Expresses elsewhere - so don't worry, this isn't a rogue in-name-only location. I didn't hear anything through the walls. I could faintly make out sounds through the bathroom ventilation, but that's to be expected. The room had a fridge and microwave. There is a Key Food grocery store one block up the road. The closest subway station (61st-Woodside) is a 10 min walk through a safe residential neighborhood. The station hosts the MTA 7 subway and the LIRR train. The 7 train is about 10 stops away from Manhattan; you can also transfer to the G train to go straight to Brooklyn. The Q70 SBS bus to LGA also has a stop at this station as well! The subway station is located next to more restaurants, pharmacies, banks, and grocery stores. Also, right beneath the station is a newish-looking Kennedy Fried Chicken that closes at 4 am daily. I ordered the fried whiting several times and they cooked it on the spot...it was so moist. Amazing, well-priced fast food, open late. This might be too far for novice NYC visitors. But if you have some know-how and don't need the 'Sex and The City' NYC experience, this is a remarkable location. I'm almost scared to review it because I don't want people to ruin it.

As of 12/2023, a newer hotel in the Holiday Inn Express chain in Queens, NY. The check-in level is accessed by a very short set of steps or handicap ramp. Entry vestibule has luggage carts if needed, and the double door system is good both for security and climate control in the lobby. Main level has check in desk; small convenience shelves for snacks, etc.; comfortable seating. Also on the main level is the breakfast room and a small but well set-up common area if you need a place to sit with your laptop. One level down is a large meeting room; gym; washer/dryer area; and another common area for socializing. The rooms are bare bones, but the ergonomics are very good — the room fit out is super practical, functional and hygienic. Lighting in the room is good; HVAC system is quiet; everything works in the bathroom. Coffee maker (K-cup system); fridge; and microwave in room. Breakfast room staff is good — I was there during the Christmas holiday and the place was full. The staff kept everything in order.

COCKROACHES

We have tried to fix this through Holiday Inn but they refuse to answer calls or Emails so I have decided to post this for future customers to be aware.

Hotel review

Issues in the hotel: damaged iron that burned my clothing, the water fountain at the gym doesnt work, the wardrobe rod bracket was missing from our room so we had nowhere to hang clothes, the room curtains would jam when opening and closing (we stayed on the ground level/C floor/ so very important for curtains to work to maintain our privacy), the STAFF criticizes their patrons freely in open spaces without concern

My husband and I recently stayed at Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 6406 Queens Blvd (Service Rd), Queens for a romantic getaway weekend around NYC. Day one we had reservations for a yacht/dinner cruise. Since there was nowhere to hang our clothing they got a little wrinkled and naturally I wanted to look my best for our elegant night out. When using their iron for my “iron safe” labeled dress, the iron burned through my dress on contact in an instant. When inspecting the damage and iron i saw that there was a large black stain on the hot side of the iron and extensive prior burn damages signifying the iron was never replaced despite it being faulty.

I respectfully requested to speak with a manager but was told “there was no manager on site.” Someone came to my room and took pictures of everything and told me a manager would call me the next day. My husband was outside our room when the staff left my room. He heard the staff saying I was being “CHEAP for ironing the dress and not dry cleaning the dress!” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Imagine providing a subpar lodging space and defective equipment, then blaming your guest for their abysmal experience for being “cheap” because they chose to stay with you company!? Ridiculous! It is so distasteful, disrespectful and UNPROFESSIONAL to have the hotel staff talk so poorly of their guests IN THE HALLWAYS OF THE HOTEL. I NEVER spoke to the hotel staff in a rude way and NEVER got loud for them to talk about me in that way.

Needless to say, manager NEVER called me. Upon checking out, the front desk rep asked my husband how our stay was. My husband listed all the issues that happened and confidently mentioned, “its alright though, i don’t expect someone to reach out to us or even follow up since your manager couldn’t even do that. I have no faith in your staff’s ability to provide customer service or any desire in staying at this location in the future. The front desk representative who worked the morning of 20 OCT 2024 said she would make sure a manager would call us. The MANAGER NEVER CALLED.

Save yourself the miserable experience, don’t stay here. Their staff lack training, professionalism and basic...
