Bottom line is : SriPraPhai is THE NY thai spot, for celebrations, casual, date or and alone dining. Having never been to Thailand, Sri Pham is the status quo for authenticity in thai food in terms of ambience, taste and quality of food and overall experience. The beautiful backyard eating area consists of green garden plants and flowers hung low from outdoor canopy showcasing a sprinkling fountain, will make for the perfect no. Pretentious but still coming out for ambiance type setting .menu showcases dishes that wonderfully counterbalance spice with sweetness , texture and savory. Most prominent ingredients are chili sauce, lime, anchovie/fish paste, cilantro, garlic, peanuts and COCONUT. The result is a parade of unapologetic, exquisite flavors that will linger as in nostalgia for days to come. curries are served along steaming hot rice ( mild sweetness from coconut rice to balance the any tingling spice, of course), the papaya salad so crisp and represhing ( thank you, cilantro and lemon juice !) This menus provides a Thai tasting experience outside the scope of standard nyc thai restaurant. Best of all, there is something for EVERYONE on the menu. spring rolls actually crispy outside with a noodle like and vegetable filling perfectly bite sized (ready to dip into a sweet sweet and tangy honey sauce )are a go to for even the most neutral palates. My order is usually ready so quick, l feel like the guest of honor in a friends thai home. For those that dare into the world of cashless dining, The “cons” here are they are closed on wed, which is not customary and might seem like a random and disappointing discovery upon arrival . And obviously, cash only, which seems to add on to the exotic cuisine mystic, but quite standard for neighborhood businesses surrounding. Also, advisable to refer to illustrated menu for water to order and hold off on long winded recommendation requests from long tenured staff . They are excellence at efficient order taking, however speed and order accuracy are priority and don’t worry about ordering the wrong thing since ultimately, everything on the menu is DELICIOUS. Only other possible con here is that I go there too often and whenever I meet with someone to eat in my area, they always...
Read morePhenomenal! As a person that absolutely does not like Thai, this restaurant is awesome! Came here on the recommendation of a couple of friends and could not be happier we did.
SriPraPhai Thai sits in perhaps the most unassuming corner of Woodside. You have your local barber shop, a few bodegas, an urban park, some bbq's and domino games, then--BAM amazing Thai restaurant!
When you get to the restaurant, you'll likely have to wait so grab a number. They've got a DMV type system so you'll see your number on a large lotto like board in the windows. Efficiency here is high, you probably won't be waiting long and the place is also pretty big.
SriPraPhai has an inside section and an outside section. Now that the weather is nice, I'd def recommend sitting outside. You'll walk through the inside and smell a bit of heaven. Walking through the threshold, you'll notice a wonderful water fountain. There's a fair amount of seating outside and each table has it's own (LED) overhead light above the table for when it gets dark.
The menu--it's like a Thai bible. It's has enough pages to make Game of Thrones jealous. There are plenty of house drinks and beer as well as bountiful food options.
Our table went with a number of dishes including: watercress salad, fried pork belly, drunken noodles, and a few soup dishes. They were all winners. Watercress salad is a must have. Full of flavor, it's crispy and delicious. The fried pork belly was my favorite of the selections. The drunken noodles were great and had the perfect amount of heat to them. I honestly wish I could describe the food in greater detail, but again, I don't like Thai food so this was all really a revelation.
The service was fantastic. Our server was friendly, helpful and informative about the menu, and very eager to make sure we were enjoying the food and having a good experience.
At the end of the meal, I expect--like us--you'll be blown away by how good this place is. It's not often I can give a place 5 stars, but here it is. More than worth going out of...
Read moreThis Thai restaurant was fine. A good thing about this place was that it had a lot of seats, and I would never imagine needing to wait with this many seats. Me and my company ordered the food and drinks, and like 5 minutes later, the drinks and the appetizers all came! That's unusually fast, but it's good. I ordered the spicy papaya salad, and it was great. I then got my main course 10 minutes later. I ordered the "Thai" buffalo wings. They did not taste like Thai buffalo wings, but they tasted like plain, tasteless buffalo wings. I thought that these wings were going to be at least a bit spicy, but it wasn't. Not a bit. The chilies were there for nothing. The salad was good, though. Now for the service. The service was fine. There was nothing special about the people that worked there. They took your order, and walked off. They were not rude, but they were not friendly. The atmosphere and furniture was fine as well. The chairs were regular wood chairs. They were not comfortable, but they were not uncomfortable. The atmosphere was pretty calm, but not so calm. There was no nice lively atmosphere, but there was also not a boring, super calm atmosphere. The lighting was fine, and the tables were fine. Nothing special. The drinks were good. I ordered the "Thai iced tea with milk and tapioca pearls" and it was good. There wasn't too much of the iced tea, but there wasn't too little. This tea was basically a bubble tea. I wouldn't think of think of this place first when asked where to eat, but I've been to worse...
