I took a couple days to let my thoughts marinate on this. The menu pricing online is not the same as in store and the young guy behind register would not honor it. I let that go. The food was meh. I was expecting something in my mind that I did not get. I was expecting a lil more pumpkin seed pesto in addition to actually having ranch dressing on the gf warrior burger/sandwich. There is no way they could have believed that the vegan mayonnaise placed into a cup with specks of pepper could mimic the flavor of ranch. I was skeptical before tasting it because it was so thick. I was supposed to get a taste of ranch flavor. NOPE. Maybe they assumed I was new to being plant based: NOPE. Eventhough the gf warrior bread was heavily oiled, I ate it in 2 sittings throughout the night. I really needed a knife and fork to eat it. I honestly expected something better. I really tried to find the good in the meal. That didn't have a warrior vibe to it at all. Maybe the chef might be sabotaging your business. Like how did that sandwich give a warrior vibe? It could have been better. It truly was alright. That side salad was wack in presentation as well. It was just a handful of chopped lettuce and a lil kale. The guy behind counter hyped it up. Nothing special. Check your young staff, seriously. The online reviews didn't reflect what I tasted. I have had better elsewhere. I have done a better job at home and saved the family $10 less($11) extra without the overly oiled bread. I was told that I "...would be back the next day." Yeah, to talk about the unranch dressing and oiliness. Luckily, the others liked their meals a lot. Maybe I had the worst on the menu. Rare to get bad food in NYC. My last bad experience was in 2017 or 2018 in Brooklyn. Before that, maybe 5 years prior. Thankfully, I had no tummy issues with all that oil. I will never have that again. I should have tried the pizza that was ordered. I could have had something more positive to say. I removed one more star for service because of the meh side "salad" that...

You know you’ve had a memorable meal when you’re still thinking about the textures, the temperatures, and—let’s be honest—the sauces days later. That’s exactly what happened after our visit to Urban Food Kitchen in New York City. This place is a gem, mixing casual cool with culinary creativity in all the right ways.
I went for the plant-based salmon ranch salad—and let me tell you, this dish didn’t come to play. It was a brilliant contrast of hot and cold: roasted onions and peppers added a savory warmth, while the crisp kale kept things fresh and grounded. Then came the plant-based salmon… I don’t know what sorcery was involved in crafting it, but it was mind-blowingly good. The texture was spot-on, the flavor deep and smoky, and it held its own like a proper centerpiece.
But let’s talk ranch. The housemade ranch dressing deserves its own spotlight. Creamy, herby, and just tangy enough, it was so good I asked for extra—then shamelessly dipped my “salmon” into it like it was a high-end nugget. No regrets.
My partner had the steak sandwich, which was equally impressive, but the real MVP on his plate? That housemade barbecue sauce. Sweet, smoky, and finger-licking addictive, it elevated every bite of the sandwich—and yes, we both dunked the onion rings in it like we were at a private sauce tasting.
Service? Stellar. Friendly, fast, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food (which, let’s be honest, always makes the experience better).
In a city overflowing with trendy food spots, Urban Food Kitchen stands out by offering dishes that are both innovative and soul-satisfying. Whether you're plant-based, steak-loving, or just someone who appreciates a well-balanced bite and a killer sauce, this place has you covered.

Read moreI wish I could give this place more stars!! The experience exceeded my expectations on every level. We were greeted at the door with a “happy birthday?” how they knew it was us, I have no idea, but it was super sweet and from start to finish it was a perfect experience. The decor is so cool and funky I wanted to spend more time looking at it all. The music was great. Our food was there so fast we literally said “wow” when it arrived 🤩 everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Our favorites included the Korean wings, the Tofuego sandwich, burger and onion rings. Definitely try onion rings instead of fries if you like them! What really impressed me most was that when we asked about adding the salmon pasta server was very honest in telling us that some people love it and for some people it’s a little too realistic, so it wasn’t the blanket answer “everything‘s good here“ that you might get at a lot of establishments…we got very honest recommendations and we’re absolutely delighted by the food that we enjoyed together. We didn’t have drinks that night but they looked really good and the bartender even passed by our table with a smile and a HBD 🩷
To top it all off they brought out a slice of delicious chocolate cake for my BF. It even had a lit candle on it!!!! I was blown away by the level of customer service and genuine kindness we experienced …can’t wait to come back for fried green tomatoes and Brussel sprouts. We would have gotten more things to try but the burgers were huge and we were happy...
