My family and I stayed here for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is close to Penn Station, which was the main reason I booked this property. It is also within walking distance to the Empire State Building and Times Square so the location is great. Unfortunately the hotel itself is not so great. The room is small. Very small. There were 3 of us and we couldn't find room to place our 3 small carry-on bags on the floor in an opened position. Not a big deal as I know this is the heart of midtown so that's to be expected I guess. The room? The bathroom doorknob/latch was broken. Once you closed the door, it would latch but the doorknob/handle wouldn't turn so you couldn't reopen the door. They sent someone to fix it and he couldn't. He didn't speak English but using google translate, I was able to ascertain that he needed to go buy a new lock and come back later. I needed to leave so I told him I will call housekeeping later. It wasn't worth it to waste my time waiting so we just lived with it for the remainder of my trip by putting kleenex in the latch hole so it wouldn't latch shut. I hope they fixed it for the next guest. The bathroom amenities were a joke. There were 3 bottles, 1 each of shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The bottles are all 0.75oz each. That is barely enough for 1 person, let alone 3. Pretty much useless and I ended up buying my own soap, shampoo and conditioner at CVS down the street. The Hotel elevators keycard security does not work. So regardless of hotel guest status, anyone can access the elevators. Closet door was broken. The hinge was completely broken and door would collapse when opened. Area around hotel entrance is not the best. There were huge piles of trash in front every night. The street is dark and the people around this street were a little on the sketchy side. Would not stay again. Sorry.

BLACK MOLD BLACK MOLD BLACK MOLD. Let me start out by saying I had no issues with the staff. I will get straight to the point. This hotel should be shut down immediately because of its black mold problem. The pictures do capture the wet, humid smell that sits in that bathroom and smells like pure black mold. I almost felt like I was getting sick. If you know nothing about mold, the scariest thing isn’t what you can see…. It’s what you can’t see. God knows what’s behind that wallpaper. Room 1114 at the 29th Street Holiday Inn in Manhattan needs to be closed immediately before some kid puts his hands on the walls. IHG should be completely ashamed. I told them about the situation actually and said I wouldn’t post this review in lieu of a 1 week refund, and they offered me 10,000 IHG points as “Goodwill”. I live in Tennessee and a 1 night stay in a rural city here is 20,000 IHG points. I assure you they don’t care about this problem and tourists visiting the city will pay $350 per night for this room. I travel frequently for work and haven’t tried a Holiday Inn in roughly 10 years. I understand fully the “You got what you paid for what do you expect” notion, but exposed black mold crosses the line. Don’t try and save money, consider your health.

I want to start out by saying that every hotel employee we interacted with were surprisingly friendly and always willing to help. Everyone including the front desk, the breakfast workers, and the cleaning crews always had a positive attitude and smile on their face. I searched for a lot of different hotels before booking, and this one seemed to be the best option based on the location and price. The checkin was super easy - our Uber dropped us off at exactly 3 PM, and our room was ready right away. The location of the hotel is excellent. The nearest subway stop is only about a block away (the 1 train stops at 28th street). We were pleasantly surprised about how many breakfast options there were, especially because the breakfast was included in the price of the hotel stay. The rooms were a decent size, but it’s to be expected in a large city like New York. There was no formal checkout process which was nice. They only charged us $1 per suitcase when we wanted to leave our luggage at the hotel after checkout time. Overall, it was a great, hassle free stay, and we will most definitely stay here the next time in New York. 100% recommended

We arrived around 8pm after getting off of an international flight. We were checked in by Terry who couldn't have been more helpful if he tried. After a long journey it was great to be welcomed by such a helpful member of staff, so, management, if you are reading this, please praise him! ||It was CLEARLY explained to us by Terry about the nightly city tax charges etc, it works in at around $29 per night. Terry also explained there would be a separate pending charge which was around $50 - This went back on to our card around a week after we returned to the UK. So, we had no issues with charges the way other guests have, however, it is important to note that nightly city tax charges ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. I know numerous guests are complaining that the hotel are holding on to their cash, but are they aware the nightly city tax fees are not refundable? When checking in, we had an issue with one of our UK bank cards - The contactless option didn't seem to be working but it was fine when using chip and pin. ||There are complimentary sweets at reception, free bottles of water (1 per guest/per day) and a help yourself coffee counter during the day. There is also a microwave for guest use. At the front of the hotel there are patio seats, one side you can smoke in, the other side is a smoke free area. This was great for us as we both vape. It was nice to sit there with a tea/coffee in the morning in a closed in area and not be standing out on the street to vape. We gathered here at the end of the day too, it became a routine and we ended up chatting to other guests. The hotel is pet friendly and we seen a few cute doggies with their winter jackets on, coming and going from the hotel. The lifts are secure access, so you can only move up the floors if you have a room key which is great for guest safety. There are also chips, sodas, big bottles of water in comparison to the free ones and confectionery available at reception for purchase. There was a sign for room service, but I'm unsure if this related to breakfast only, we didn't use this unfortunately. ||Our room was on the 15th floor and was immaculately clean. The bed was SUPER comfortable and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The housekeeping staff visited daily and were very friendly. There were a few days where we had our ''do not disturb'' sign on our door as we planned to sleep late on some days, and despite getting a little note under the door explaining our room wouldn't be cleaned as we remained in the room after the time of the housekeepers being on our floor, they still offered to nip in and give the room a quick once over when we were heading out for the day. The housekeeping staff were well presented and very friendly and done a grand job. It was nice to come back to a tidy room after a long day exploring the city. One evening we unfortunately had an issue with the flush on our toilet, we contacted reception and within an hour or so a maintenance engineer arrived and fixed this within 15 minutes. We are very deep sleepers, so street noise did not appear to be an issue for us nor did hallway noise. There is a coffee machine in each room but we preferred using the self serve coffee stand in the lobby as this was better. The TV has many channels and we always found something to watch in the evenings after being out and about. ||Breakfast is on offer from 0630hrs until 1000hrs. There are great options, hot and cold. Hot options tended to be turkey sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes. Each day the egg option would change, from scrambled, to fried, to mini cheese omelettes. There is also fruit, yoghurt, pastries , bagels, bread and muffins. There is definitely something for everyone. The breakfast area gets very busy, we found that going for breakfast around 0700hrs was the perfect time, as we were up super early anyway to fit in all of our planned activities. There were a few days as I mentioned previously that we slept late and the seating area was packed, so we collected some breakfast and return to our room to have it - Breakfast in bed! ||The hotel is in a great location. There is a 7/11 around the corner for any late night nibbles. Whilst this is nothing to do with the hotel, please take care with the males who hang around the entrance to the 7/11, they were always intoxicated and would cat call etc. Lots of food options nearby, whether that be a restaurant or a cheap pizza slice. You are around a 10 minute walk to Penn Station and a 20 minute walk to Times Square. ||Terry organised us a late check out of 2pm (free of charge!) on the day we were flying back to the UK, our flight was at 7PM so this was extremely helpful to get a few extra hours of relaxing before starting the journey home. There was an option for the hotel to store our luggage until midnight on the day of check out if we required it, but we didn't have to make use of this. ||All in all a wonderful stay. It was worrying to see so many negative reviews, and I don't know why there are so many, perhaps people are booking this hotel expecting it to be extremely high class, but I can assure you it was high class for the price we paid. ||We won't be back to NYC for a long time, but when we do manage to return, we hope this hotel is still here for us to return to. I will be recommending this hotel to anyone who asks me where to stay when they come to NYC.||Thanks for...

We stayed here for 5 nights as a family of 4 myself, husband, son (21) son (17) Booked 2 rooms 1x Kingsize and the other a double twin, both were well decorated and modern with everything needed, the rooms were not huge but had everything to hand including hairdryers and hangers, very comfortable beds with good quality bedlinen and good pillows, huge tv on wall st foot of bed with a variety of channels, coffee machine and pods in room and complimentary water that can be collected from Reception, there were disposable cups for coffee and water and an ice bucket- ice machine down the hall, bathroom was well equipped , modern with complimentary “dove” toiletries that were replenished daily body lotion, soap, shampoo and conditioner, excellent shower with plentiful hot water, good amount of towels.||There is a gym in the basement but we didn’t use it.||Check in was easy and rooms were allocated quickly- I had previously emailed and asked for rooms on the same floor close together , we were on the same floor but at opposite ends of the corridor, not an issue for us with adult children but if they were young teens the allocation wouldn’t have worked as well. Upon check in $150 per room was held against a credit card, this was refunded on check out. Reception staff were always friendly and happy to advise on subway stations, give directions etc.||Breakfast is served just in front of reception every morning from around 06:30-10:00 for the small size of the area and for being advertised as a cold selection, I wasn’t expecting too much a basic “continental” however I was so surprised there is a fabulous selection.||Coffee and tea selection with various flavour syrups, a fridge with milk, chocolate milk and yoghurts, cereal station with around 6 variety’s, a small hot selection which varied daily always comprising- eggs, sausage or pattys, chipped potatoes, waffles, churros, mushrooms/ tomatoes and a fabulous white sauce with scones a couple of the days, there was a muffin and pastry station, various breads and bagels for toasting with a selection of jams and spreads and hot cinnamon buns everyday. The plates, cups & cutlery were disposable which wasn’t an issue and you are expected to clear your table when finished, lots didn’t! There is a lovely lady constantly replenishing and wiping tables down, I did see some reviews about people walking in off the streets and helping themselves, this happened once in 5 days, a chap walked in who looked homeless as soon as he was through the door the chap on reception respectfully blocked him from the food area by standing talking to him and guided him back to the reception desk, he asked his room number and what he could help him with, he was then told the buffet was for residents only, he left quietly after apologising and saying he didn’t realise it was residents only this was all done very discreetly and without making the man feel u comfortable or embarrassed had I not been sat at reception it would likely have passed me by.||There is a terraced area to the front of the hotel with lights and decoration that would be lovely in the warmer months to sit with a coffee and watch the world pass by, it was February and freezing so we didn’t utilise this area but a nice...

This was a pretty amazing hotel stay! Staff was a huge help and I feel like we got some pretty good perks for our stay here.😍🤩💯🥰

One thing I didn't like, (please also refer down to the Cons section as well if you're interested in staying here) was probably the only thing I didn't like,(listen carefully to this part! *WHEN you are given a room key, you are more than likely taking the elevator to get to your room. Upon entering the elevator you're supposed to tap your room card to this thing in the elevator AND THEN you press your floor for your room. That's not so bad I guess. But staff should really be explaining that part upon check in.. especially for older peoplez and foreignerz, in my opinion.

Other than the elevator room key nightmare my biggest gripe was the "overhead lighting". Our room was pretty clean upon check in, staff was very helpful, and kind. The atmosphere is good, perks were pretty good,

Pros: we had a shower in our hotel room, the bathroom had body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, hand lotion, towels, face cloths, and even drum roll a hair dryer! 🤯🥳 Pro- Hotel Perks!!- Like, They gave us 2 complimentary waters a day. 🙏(I believe they also offer a wake up call and other services like that. Smoke friendly patio outside a plus but obviously no smoking inside the hotel. Was located in a pretty quiet and decent area. Had a trash can and a recycling thing in the room. Places to charge phone. Pretty good staff working here, place was mostly kept clean.

The bed can be a pro or a con, that's up to the individual for experience. Itz probably a pro. I loved the bed but it didn't love me back. With all my back problems and stuff I would've slept better on a firmer bed. But it was a pretty darn good bed, it's not the beds fault, it's my body!!! Plus the blankets were nice too.

Con: *Room key to work elevator" 🤦 (HATED IT!!), ALSO it took us a LONG time (longer than I'm willing to admit here), to figure out there was an actual "overhead lighting system".

**"P.S. "OVERHEAD LIGHTING SYSTEM IS THE BUTTON UNDER THE TV!! ABOVE THE SHELVING! THANK ME LATER! 😎🤟😭😭😭

Another thing no one bothered to explain to us. 🤬😤🤦 CON -Also has NO microwave or anything to heat up food in your room, and NO mini fridge either.

Hope this helps! 🙏🤟🥰💯 You'll be better informed reading this than I was going into it!!💯 So hopefully my advice will make your stay here a bit more enjoyable now that you now know TWO KEY IMPORTANT THINGS (#.1. Room key operates elevator! Swipe card over sensor LOCATED INSIDE elevator AND THEN you press the button to your floor. #2. The "overhead lighting " is a button located under the TV itself but above the shelf. *Look for something that looks like a black outlet!)

I think the floor space in a room is kind of small, or on the smallerish side of things. So just FYI mind your feet around the built in AC/Heater unit!! You whack that sucker you're gunna feel it for a few minutes at least! So be careful! **The thermostat is on wall to work the AC/Heater unit as well.) 😇
