I worked here maybe around 2021 & the women that work here are very jealous, weird & immature. They insulted me then tried to be nice all up in my face & I tried to keep my composure. They mocked how I spoke professionally to people even the old lady named Marilyn (I’m not even sure if she’s alive) but the manager Karina is the weirdest out of all of them. She told me “Don’t be dressing up for these men,” because I like to look presentable. She called me “hard hearing”because I had trouble understanding heavy accents because I’m not around people with deep accents. She left me and other workers to basically train ourselves to go eat and she was mad at me for “Not picking up on things quick enough” meanwhile she took forever to train me and only did twice afterwards and I picked up on it instantly and she didn’t help me with the rest of the things I had to learn, Someone else had to. Another girl had locked me out when my brother had got me lunch for work. I tried to make the person above Karina aware of it and nothing was done, except for me being fired. If her and the rest of the women are that insecure they should work on themselves internally and externally. Also one of the guys that worked there kept insisting that I sit in the dining room with him and I declined although he persisted and another man that worked there had said something to him & I thanked him. Yet this is supposed to be a “Catholic hotel?”

The rooms have rats in it btw..🙃

Update: (Response to reply) I dressed professionally at this location, there was nothing sexual or unprofessional about my attire. I was actually complimented a lot & The women were Jealous and upset that I dressed nice and naturally draw attention. & we were left to train ourselves because there were other staff members complaining about the same issue & having to be trained by someone else other than Karina due to her lack of professionalism. As well as her leaving to go eat then be gone pretty much the whole day half of the time. When she was there at the desk beside me, she’ll constantly nitpick and micromanage me like crazy & cause me to mess up by being annoying. Hopefully something got done about this issue after I left. & to clarify the situation about “having difficulty understanding heavy accents” I was called “Hard hearing” By Karina because I asked a guest to repeat themselves and tried other forms of communication to try to better understand them like using Google translate. I was there for a “Few weeks” because I was fired out of spite, if the women were secure within themselves, I’m pretty sure I would’ve maintained that position. I’ve been promoted within 3 months or been offered promotions within 3 months at basically every job that I had & was constantly told to leave every job that I was at. As well as to be offered a higher position with higher pay if I stayed or to leave for a higher paying job. & I’ve been complimented on how quick I can pick up on things. I know my work ethic and skills & how they treated me is NOT how you run a company. & don’t think you’ll ever be blessed treating people that way with that bitter...

Where do I even start with this place! I made a reservation now for August 12th for 13 days. Which is 6 months from now. After the booking and taking a look at the finer details the establishment added $420.00 fees which is not very detailed and when I asked what the $420.00 fees are they refused to give me a concise answer. I asked for a refund because I asked my friends who live in the area to check this place out. And they advised me that this place have people who are on "Welfare" living at this facility. Ugh! This place is a joke! I would not even bring my Dog to this place. The Staff are extremely rude and unprofessional and they called themselves "God loving Christians" all I ask them to do is give me back my $175.00 Deposit since its February its not like they are losing any money. They refused and keep saying it's a Non-Refundale Reservation! So what is $175.00 to them nothing! Just give it back and let me go and stay someplace else where I can be happy. This Organization are not "Good Christians" they are a scammer! And do not tell Expedia or their Website the real truth. Again so far they have not been able to tell me what the extra $420.00 is for. So people before you book at this dump! Ask questions cause they will rip you off!

2/16/2024 Got a response from the Executive Director she said I "threatened the staff in an email" I would like to see that email and what was exactly said and why is she brining all of this up now? I mean let's get real here. She is mad cause now I can put it all out there for people to read and see that she is rude, unprofessional and is not willing to go out of her way to be nice! After all she is in the Customer Service business.

It's funny how some people love to play "victims" but are not nice. Like I said to her karma is a very powerful thing. In addition, she keeps harboring about the $420.00 no where in my post I am asking for a refund on the $420.00 so seem to me that she does not know how to read or who knows what.

All I am asking them to do is give me back the $175.00 which is nothing to them and let us all move on. But she does not want to do that all she want to do is play "victim" and label me the "bad guy." Where is the compassion...

I have stayed at the Leo House many times, and my last stay was the last. It has always been a charming inexpensive place to stay, but has gone downhill and is not inexpensive.|I flew in for n a red eye, and being well aware that the 4:00 check in advertised could be as late as 6:00, I paid for the night so when I got there at 7:00 in the morning, I could sleep. Got to the room, shared a twin with friend, and attempted to sleep, I felt as if I was going to fall off the mattress and it had no support, could feel the springs! Gave up trying to sleep and saw a cleaner who said she could fix it. We left for the day and when we returned at 4:00, she was just beginning to clean our room. She put a new mattress cover on it.. didn’t work. I went to the desk and told them I needed a new mattress. They got upset that I didn’t tell them earlier. They sent up 2 maintenance guys who proceeded to take the bed apart and fix the broken frame (used tape!, instead of screws), put the mattress back on and claimed it was fixed even though the same dent in it was visible. Luckily they had a room with plumbing issues and had an extra bed, or I would have had to go somewhere else. No apology or compensation for a room unable to sleep in.||Cleanliness: 1 out of 10. Housekeeping overworked. I deliberately left a piece of dental floss that was under the sink when we checked in, there for 3 days. 3rd day it was finally gone. Sink never wiped. Floors never addressed. Only clean sheets||A day without power or water or elevators! I understand work needs to be done, but they knew it needed to be done when we checked in. No notice until day before. No toilet after 9:10 am, unless you wanted to go to a building next door! Again, no compensation||Air conditioning.. so loud can’t sleep and blew in my face and head all night.||I was leaving the city for the country for a few days and returning for one night. I had made a reservation for that night, but there was no way I was staying there, I notified them 4 full days in advance and considering all that happened, they still stuck to their ridiculous policy that I would...

Tiny bed, peeling paint, none would help my wife, what looks like mold in tub, horrible vibe, industrial toilet…. I wrote on 8/6 and also called 8/7 to cancel and they said i could not. I spoke to a reservations person and a supervisor who told me they absolutely would not refund my money even though I had just placed the reservation a day or two earlier and the date for the start was three weeks away. I did not tell them the actual reason for my cancellation, which was that my wife stayed at their Hotel The day before and found it so disgusting that she could not sleep despite having just spent 12 hours on an int’l flight and said we could not stay there together or apart with their peeling paint, what appeared to be mold in the tub and no help from anybody at the desk despite her having an injured hand… essentially bottom Tier quality and service all around. She called the place “haunted” it had such a horrible vibe. Judging by the supervisor, who was very snappy with me (perhaps an angry nun? This is a Catholic-related business…) the supe actually hung up on me. I’m amazed this place is open and will be writing reviews to share our experience with others. We lived a few blocks from this place for 15 years and we were always curious about it and I thought it would be a wonderful place to stay. Boy did we get that wrong. Thank you, J

My mom and I wanted to do a quick overnight trip to NYC (2019), but every hotel (and AirBNB) was so expensive! I don't even remember how I found The Leo House, but the price was even cheaper than a lot of AirBNB options, *and* had more privacy, AND came with a free continental breakfast (almost unheard of in NYC). . I also think it's so neat that they offer a huge discount to any clergy staying there (I can't remember, but I want to say it was half off). Also, because it is Catholic-run, they had free rosary beads for anyone to take. I'm not Catholic, but I thought that was a really nice offer they just have out by the front desk. . As for the room itself. Yes, it is small. No there are not showers in the room. The beds felt smaller than normal (but were comfy), and our room did not have AC units. (we went in Nov so maybe they do in the summer?) But again, the price was right and was perfect for what we needed. Oh! And all of the staff was amazing - the guy who checked us in at night was still there in the morning and even remembered my name! It felt like small town culture in the middle of a giant city. . If you're looking for a luxury hotel, this is most definitely not the place. But if you want something that is affordable, does the job, and has a great staff, The Leo House is great and I highly recommend it.
