Dallas BBQ at 23rd St. remains the better location to go to in Manhattan. I went early but stayed until abt 8 pm on Friday before Easter, so maybe that was why it wasn't as crazy. It was full, but not bursting at the seams. If you are looking for a place that you can speak at low volumes, D BBQ is not it.

We also had a great server, who took pride in her job. When another server dropped some dishes, she came over and was concerned as to whether the other server apologized for the ruckus.

I like that most of the food is the same since it's opened and the drinks are still big and tasty. For an average eats place in Manhattan, drinks are still well priced.

I had the Texas sized Pina Colada, and it was $12.99. The rum in it also tasted pretty decent. If it was not a well-known brand of rum, I had no clue. The drink was smooth tropical fun. I'm usually a top shelf girl, so for me not to question the liquor in a drink, you know it didn't taste like car battery juice.

My favorite thing that hasn't changed on the meal I had, the chicken and ribs combo, is that the honey basting was still yummy, and their white meat was not dry.

My ultra favorite thing that is still spot on is their ranch dressing. It still tastes like it is simply a buttermilk based recipe with no heaps of gums or additives. I skip the sour cream and drown their fluffy baked potato in it. Simple slice of heaven.

I still like their cornbread. It may not be anything homemade (could be a big batch of Jiffy for all i know), but still the nice fluffy slab of sweet bread that tastes good with a slathering of room temp butter on it.

So, if you are just looking for your average Olive Garden style chain eatery, D BBQ still serves its purpose of a big plate of food and big drinks at value prices for the times.

However, I draw the line at their pterodactyl sized Frankenstein wings. Dem things are just too big for me to be comfortable eating them. They r just not natural sized! They were never that sized originally.
