Van Leeuween Ice Cream is a delightful haven for those seeking an indulgent treat that promises to satisfy your sweetest cravings. When it comes to holiday indulgence, calories are the last thing on anyone's mind, and Van Leeuwen's Mini Sundae is the perfect embodiment of that spirit. I recently savored the joy of their brown sugar cookie ice cream, and it was nothing short of a sweet symphony for the taste buds.

The brown sugar cookie ice cream itself was a creamy masterpiece with a distinct warmth of brown sugar that beautifully complemented the cool, velvety texture. But what truly took this mini sundae to the next level were the toppings: honeycomb, cookies and cream, and rainbow sprinkles. The honeycomb added a delightful crunch and a sweet, golden touch that perfectly paired with the ice cream's richness. Cookies and cream provided a contrasting texture and a classic flavor that we all adore. And of course, the rainbow sprinkles brought a burst of color and whimsy to the ensemble. It's a dessert that not only tastes divine but also looks like a party on a plate. So, if you find yourself at Van Leeuwen's during the holidays, don't even think about counting calories – just savor every sweet, joyful bite of their...

Van Leeuwen – Tribeca/SoHo Sweet Spot! Born in Brooklyn in 2008, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream brings its cult-favorite scoops to a perfectly placed Tribeca/SoHo corner—ideal for families with baby strollers (daycares abound) and students from two Independence School campuses just an 8-minute walk away.

Must-try: The Affogato—hot espresso over ice cream—is a standout. Busy parents in between children care duty afternoon delight. Bonus: plenty of vegan and kosher options that don’t skimp on flavor.

Locational Advantage: The area caters naturally to young families and school-age kids, with multiple daycares and playgrounds nearby. The proximity to four campuses of the public and charter schools including the Independence School makes it an easy pit stop for after-school treats. Stroller parking nextdoor is manageable, and staff are patient with little ones. Spacious and clean comfy interior. A definite win for busy parents. Easy, elevated, and family-friendly—this scoop shop fits the neighborhood like a glove. Recommending this location over the NYU one which is ideal for couples and...

Still the best for vegan options. Have enjoyed their ice cream for past five years, but lately, starting to get too sweet for my taste. Latest flavor tried was banana bread pudding, good but very sweet. You can always choose from their other 3-4 vegan options or pick up a pint of 8-10 options. Their Brooklyn one on Franklin Ave is smaller. This one is bigger and had more pints to choose from. Also, it’s right by the park, which is lovely, but on sunny days after school lets out and weekends, this place gets crowded and has long (but quick moving) lines. Honey isn’t vegan, so I am not sure why their ‘honeycomb’ options are labeled vegan. On their website they say ‘Honeycomb is, surprisingly, made using no honey at all. So yes, this flavor is vegan. Honeycomb is actually a crunchy, chewy caramel candy”. So, why not call it what it is or put honeycomb in quotes? I have brought this up before at their locations, but the staff have no idea and don’t pass on the message. This is misleading, and I wish they would fix it. Would love it if they start offering...
