Nice park with good separation of areas for older and younger kids, so that toddlers won't get trampled by older kids. A number of picnic tables and a nice grassy area for playing catch and running around. Supposedly, the park is open from 7am until dusk, seven days a week, but apparently it closes for rain and other elements. There were times when my toddler and I would walk over only to be crushed that the park was closed despite that the sun was supposed to be out for another hour, that it's above 50 degrees, and that it's overcast, but no rain in the forecast. So we hike over to the other parks in the area instead, like Rockefeller playground...
Read moreJust discovered ladybug day at WMP. Each year the park brings in ladybugs from California to use against aphids which are harmful to plant life here, instead of pesticides. They make it an educational event for all kids. I think they've been doing it for over 20 years. The volunteers who help with the ladybugs are incredibly helpful and my two daughters, ages 3 and 5, absolutely loved it. It's a fun time learning about nature for city kids....
Read moreGreat park for families with children. There are 3 separate sections for kids of different ages with different height slides and climbing equipment. There is also a small water section to splash in, and a section with sand. My son loves the wooden train. Also nice that it's totally fenced in so kids are enclosed and cannot easily get out to the street. We come here a lot after eating breakfast at Sarabeth's...
