I'm going to say honestly that this review could have went very badly. When I arrived my friend was already there and apparently one of the staff members had treated him in not a nice fashion. I would hope that this was more a social issue and not a racial issue so that's all I'm going to say about that. Also when I got there my check in time was for 3 p.m. for the Penthouse Suite and my room was not ready. And like I stated this could be a nasty and negative review but it will not be because the staff there were absolutely wonderful and very helpful and very kind. Aside from that one staff member everyone else was very professional very courteous and very nice. From the manager who I believe was named was Joe, wonderful and really considerate and understood the frustrations of not being able to check in to your room until a good 45 minutes later and even offered me a discount towards my bill. Secondly there was I believe his name was Kevin at the front desk. He was so professional and so kind and so sweet and I appreciate his service also he apologized for the way my guest was treated by the fellow staff member who I will not name because I do not want this to be a negative review on the strength of one person. Lastly I most definitely need to shout out the wonderful and very very pretty Nairobi also at the front desk. She went above and beyond she even gave me breakfast buffet passes because she understood how unfortunate it was for me to be delayed on my check in time. She also helped Google direct me to a store when she didn't even have to do that. I didn't even expect her to do that but she did it out of the kindness of her heart and it was very very very sweet of her. I hope the Hilton Tribeca knows how wonderful their staff members are because like I said this review could have been very negative but because their staff was so professional and so kind and it was so aboveboard that I couldn't possibly write anything negative. But I do want to state to that one staff member who was very negative to my GUEST because maybe he didn't look like he deserved to be in a Penthouse Suite that you cannot judge a book by its cover. You don't know who has what and who is doing what with their lives and let that be a lesson to you Period. My room was absolutely fabulous I love the penthouse suite with the whirlpool tub. They are one of the only hotels in the city who even off of whirlpool tub and I absolutely loved it . I loved the big 50-inch screen TV I loved that the penthouse was on its own floor I mean who wouldn't love that. The restaurant in the hotel was lively and very chic . Hilton Tribeca was a wonderful spot to relax In. And the continental breakfast was delicious. All in all we had a wonderful time and we will definitely be returning...
Read moreWe stayed at the HGI Tribeca for the first time in several years and were reminded what a good choice it is. The A/C/E subway is literally right outside the front door, the 1 is a block away, and the NQRW is less than 10 minutes easy walk. The room is fairly large by NYC standards. There is actually room for 2 people to walk around at the same time and there is space for your luggage -- both unusual for most Manhattan hotels! The bed was very comfy, although the pillows were terrible. We asked for a quiet room. They put us right by the elevators on the 5th floor, which we were initially unhappy about, but we really heard almost zero noise from the hallway. The view wasn't much, but I've had much worse at much more expensive NYC hotels, and best of all it was QUIET. The only noise we heard from outside was an occasional siren. Very quiet by NYC standards. The room was clean. Front desk staff was friendly. ||One note: the water in the bathroom is SCALDINGLY hot. I washed my hands as soon as we arrived and the water in the sink was boiling hot instantly. I yelped in pain. I really thought I was going to have blisters. My hands were painful and red the rest of the day, but fortunately no blisters. I am surprised they keep it so hot, because it seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. ||The breakfast restaurant is pretty abysmal. It's an Italian restaurant that I suspect was told by Hilton they have to serve breakfast to be in that space, but they are clearly unhappy about it. Due to time constraints followed by bad weather we had to eat there 4 out of our 5 days. We ordered the same thing every day, and the meals were radically different every day. I was brought 3 totally different types of bread in 4 days. The one I got twice was clearly bread left over from the previous day's dinner bread basket (oval and about the size of an egg). Another day I got square bread that was about 2/3 the size of normal bread. Only one day did I get something that looked like regular toast. We got 3 different kinds of potatoes in 4 days, and though the menu described them as roasted potatoes, they were actually frozen french fries. One day they brought me a can of Diet Coke and the next day I got a glass of totally flat Diet Coke that tasted like the dregs of a week-old 2-liter bottle. The servers were nice enough, but seemed confused. The whole experience was so incompetent it was actually kind of funny. I would recommend eating breakfast at one of the nearby diners or cafes rather than in the hotel unless you have an appreciation for theater of the absurd. ||Overall a very good hotel. Nothing fancy, but clean, comfy, and quiet, which is pretty much the best you can expect from NYC hotels. We would definitely stay...
Read moreI spent 1.5 weeks here in May 2023. The experience was average, considering it’s price. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed for renovations during my stay. However, there was a 24-hour snack shop available with a variety of food and beverage options such as sodas, juice, packaged fruit, premade sandwiches, cereal cup packs, Doritos/Lays chips, Nutrigrain bars, KitKats, Twix, Skittles, M&M's, Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids, and more. They also offered microwavable items like Kraft macaroni and cheese, frozen dinner options such as Lean Cuisine spaghetti and chicken dishes, and occasional items like Jimmy Dean Sandwiches, Snickers Ice Cream Bars, and Hagen Daz Ice Cream Cups (Strawberry and Vanilla). These items could be charged to the room or paid for at the shop.
Room had a Keurig machine, fridge, and microwave. However, I experienced an issue with my fridge as it tended to freeze items regardless of the temperature setting. The TV had a selection of channels, but they often played the same episodes on a loop. Fortunately, there were additional options like Netflix and YouTube, as well as compatibility with HDMI and USB connections. The walls were relatively thin, and occasionally I could hear noise from neighboring rooms. Vending machines and ice machines were available on every floor, and the front desk provided complimentary toothbrushes and toothpaste upon request. They also offered baggage storage if needed.
The breakfast provided from 7 to 10 am was not substantial, but it did offer to-go cups for coffee (regular and decaf), milk with various creamer options, sugar, sweeteners, hot water for tea along with tea bags, oatmeal packets, a selection of cereals, and pastries like muffins, croissants, cookies, and strudels. The breakfast setup was in the lobby, which had limited seating space. However, it's worth noting that the breakfast service would start winding down around 9:30 am when the staff began cleaning up. So, if you were planning to grab coffee 15 minutes before 10 am, there was a chance you might miss it. If you desired a more substantial breakfast, I would recommend visiting "Bubby's" or "Square Diner."
The hotel staff were generally friendly, but at times it required repeating requests multiple times to get things done. It took several attempts to have my room cleaned, and I had to approach the maids in the hallway or repeatedly inquire at the front desk. This was a significant inconvenience, as there seemed to be a lack of awareness among some of the staff members. However, the female front desk staff and a gentleman named Shavon Murray were exceptionally kind and made the overall stay worthwhile. While not the best experience, it was still decent due to their...
