I went to Pier 26 for the recent OneRepublic concert and it was a pretty impressive venue in a lot of respects. For one, you have an unbelievable view of downtown while being out on the river and the band constantly mentioned that they thought it was the best venue they had ever played at. For another, at least the time I went, there were food trucks, plentiful bathrooms, and stalls in the venue right where the concert was so it was easy to grab food and watch the performances. The venue is surrounded by a lot of fun activities as well including mini-golf, a small park, volleyball nets, and a restaurant.
The only thing I would complain about is that the actual venue as a music performance area is not the greatest. It's, well, a pier so it's completely flat so at the back you'd have absolutely no view of the performers. There's no real place to sit (although why would you during a OneRepublic concert) and it's not shaped in the normal semi-circle to maximize viewing but rather an elongated rectangle. That said, still one of the best experiences in the city and would enjoy going...
Read moreFrom their web site, Hudson River Park, "the longest waterfront park in the United States, has transformed five miles of decaying piers and parking lots along Manhattan's West side into a beloved, urban recreational paradise."
Pier 26 is a welcome addition to the sprawling Hudson River Park, located right next to...you guessed it - pier 25. Open for events, but still under construction, Pier 26 has been home to a handful of concerts that we were able to enjoy during our beach volleyball games right next door.
A few of us took a walk over to further explore, and saw them setting up a large dog park, some environmental habitats, a boathouse, and a restaurant. I'm assuming that once the pier is completely finished, they probably won't host concerts; all that foot traffic works best on the concrete that's there right now.
As a frequent visitor to Pier 25, I'm continuing to watch the ongoing development from right next door, and look forward to the...
Read moreI will NEVER be going back here again. Maybe because of covid the service has gotten worse. We had to wait in line to tell the host if we were grabbing drinks or sitting down to eat. There were no clear direction about waiting in line. Because this place checks if you are vaccinated, people take advantage by sneaking into the side and going upstairs. When we went upstairs to get drinks, we were waiting at the bar to get served but didn’t get served at all. We saw this bartender yelling at another person standing across from us that they didn’t order by the cash register at the bar. We left not served and disappointed. No clear communication of where the drink orders start. If this place is trying to practice “covid safe” then they need to communicate better on where to order drinks and that theres strict protocol. Also this place poses a health risk because of the people sneaking in and not proving their vaccination. I find this...
