This pizzaria used to be run by a very polite and older gentleman from Italy who later sold it to some young punks from Albania who are incredibly rude and have ties with the Albanian mob. (If you don't believe me just ask the owner next time you go there where he's from nonchalantly). I strongly wouldn't recommend that you go there though.
Back in January after eating several slices of pizza I asked 2 of the owner's friends (or staff?) a harmless question. At first, they seemed polite and wanted to answer the question but after I left and walked through the parking lot on my way to 7-11 at the end of the block, both of the owner's young late 20's - early 30's something friends both grabbed and punched me in the face. I think the question that I asked them in the store about their food and disposal methods angered them and in the face of the public when I was still in the store they didn't react with anger. Once outside, I was ASSAULTED by these punks. Unfortunately, since there were no bruises left on my head (although I did fall down and they tried to kick me) I immediately called the police but they couldn't press charges against them because they weren't present when it occurred and no bruises were left.
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DON'T EAT HERE OR BUY YOUR FOOD FROM HERE. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PIZZARIAS That SERVE MUCH BETTER FOOD INCLUDING Angelo and Al's on Fresh Meadow Lane and Brother's Pizzaria on Horace Harding... . In addition, although I HAD a TERRIBLE Experience here, their BEHAVIOR is clearly INAPPROPRIATE and REPREHENSIBLE in the face of the LAW. Of course there is a chance something bad may happen to you considering their history but I would hope that would...
Read moreReally nice people. Lack luster food. Honestly, wish the pizza had some kind of a resemblance to what a NY slice tastes like. Unfortunately this was so disappointing. The dough was on the thicker side, i didn't hate it tho but i didnt't love it either. Sauce was tomato paste with heavy oregano. Not very good - no depth to flavor at all and honestly it was too much cheese, or the cheese wasn't given justice given the lack of flavor. I feel bad writing the review but that was $11 im never getting back for really bad lunch..... im sorry, please do your neighborhood better and for st johns kids who spend $ they don't have on very MEDICORE food. At least have some passion and make the food with love to make it taste better!...
Read moreI take out from Vincenzo's once in a while. Normally, I would have given this place a solid 3 stars, but a couple of days ago, I ordered a Margherita pie, only because last time I ordered a cheese pie, I had to wait 20 minutes because they gave my order to someone else. When the order was ready, the guy said, $21.75 which was a bit much. I mean, Hillcrest is not exactly Midtown. When I bought it home and took a bite, I was no longer suffering from the sticker-shock, as it was one of the best tasting pizza I've ever had! Fresh ingredients on a chewy crust. I would have never expected it from a neighborhood pizzaria. Going forward, I will be bringing home a lot more Margheritas...
