Viva Mexico Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

I went to Viva Mexico yesterday for an early dinner and it was FANTASTIC! I eat out quite often and Mexican food is my fave but it's difficult to find a place that has it all - great service, excellent food, a bright cheerful environment that's CLEAN! This place delivers it all! First off, the server (I don't know her name) greeted our table with A SMILE and a fun upbeat attitude. This is becoming more and more rare at restaurants these days and it's something that sets the mood for the whole dining experience so it was greatly appreciated. That fun upbeat attitude flowed through the whole meal - which was wonderful. The guac was yummy - could have used a little more salt, but it was perfect otherwise. The chips were the BEST.. not too heavy.. perfect for the guac. The sangria (both RED and WHITE) were delicious. I'm not sure if they have a DRINK MENU.... but they should get one as they have a lovely display of tequilas :) The chicken enchiladas were the best I've ever had. The restaurant is decorated with bright upbeat colors, there's music playing, but it's not too loud. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. The dishes, glasses, silverware were all very CLEAN - which is very important to me during "these times" where we have to be extra careful - I really hope they keep this up. WOW WOW WOW.

Rarely am I impressed or blown away by a restaurant, but this place has won my heart. You can tell the level of attention to detail and care that the owners put into the restaurant. The mural paintings are beautiful and has a wonderful vibe overall.

The service is always impeccable. Waitresses are super attentive, quick, and friendly. They’ll take the time to explain the menu and specials & check in to see if you need anything.

Taco salad with chicken: this is a take-out only item, but the waitress said I could order it because the kitchen wasn’t busy at the time. I loveeee this dish. The shell is crunchy but also flaky at the same time. The salad is fresh and the chicken is well seasoned. So delicious!

Horchata: one of my favorite horchatas in NY! I love how creamy and refreshing theirs is, it’s not watered down like other places

Carnitas: we enjoyed how juicy the carnitas were and the tangy orange habanero sauce

Carne asada tacos: OMG these are a home run. Ever since I’ve had them, I’ve been thinking about them everyday. The steak is tender and well-seasoned. I am in loveee with the cheese that they incorporate into the taco. These are truly one of a kind!!

Everything absolutely delicious! , from the sauces to the cocktails. You can taste the freshness of every ingredient in the plates. I went with my family and shared different apetizers and main courses. The queso fundido, the Chicken and shrimp empanadas were fenomenal. The shrimp fajitas were so flavored and so smoky, we could not believe the freshness of it. The mole enchiladas were just heaven, if you like mole you know it is very difficult to find a well balanced mole, well, this is the place, in top of that the texture of the enchiladas was like eating a cloud, it was so soft and tasty. We also had a couple of cocktails - coconut mojito and regular mojito- refreshing and tasty, again the freshness of the ingredientes made the difference. We finish with a tres leche and shots of "Vida" mezcal with a spicy salt!. We were more than happy to find a top quality place with very reasonable prices... Viva México!, more than anything now that after the pandemia many restaurants lower the quality of their food and incresed the prices Viva Mexico is a treasure. Pd: the maduros were an amazing combinación with the mole, and all the sauces were extra yummy, especially the red one, a mix of mexican red...
