Despite having been a long-time customer of Nussbaum and Wu (now Wu and Nussbaum) for nearly 15 years... I will no longer be supporting this business. In the past 6 months I've experienced numerous issues with the cashiers and staff that have been extremely frustrating.
The most recent issue occurred this week when I ordered a bagel with egg, cheese, and tomato. I was charged just shy of $7 (never-mind that this is an insane price to be paying for this item - this is entirely besides the point). This included separate additional charges for the cheese and tomato. I received my order and noticed the bagel was missing the tomato (this kind of missing-item mistake happens frequently here, but in the past such problems used to be swiftly corrected by the staff without issue). I asked for a tomato slice, since the bagel was missing this item -- which I paid for -- and was told this "would cost extra" as the cashier began to charge me an additional amount for a side order of a tomato slice. I told her that I had already paid for the tomato (as I ordered a bagel with egg, cheese, and tomato - and paid in full). Rather than apologizing for her mistake and making this right, she decided instead to argue with me that I did not order any tomato and that she could pull-up my order history to prove that I was wrong. I told her that I was not mistaken and that, if any mistake had been made in entering the order, that it was her own. She refused to give me the single slice of tomato without making me pay twice for this item. Since I usually prefer not to engage in forensic analysis of my receipts and order history with cashiers first-thing in the morning, I decided to simply leave and never return again. This place can keep the pennies they gained on the slice of tomato I paid for and never received --- and they can lose the thousands of dollars I would have continued to spend here year-in-and-year-out.
Summary: Awful customer service. Businesses that treat their customers with suspicion and refuse to own-up to their own mistakes do not deserve to...
Read moreOrdered $50 worth of breakfast for two people (pricey, but not my main issue here). Order was incorrect (1 persons mocha was missing), instructions for additional toppings and things on the side not followed at all (they don't understand that a refund for what is missing, is absolutely, 100% missing the point). One person gets to eat, the second doesn't and/or food gets cold. They weren't even willing to rectify the missing toppings. If you cannot resolve by bringing what was paid, then the entire 'platter' and a person's expectations and desire to still eat what they didn't order drastically changes the experience, but... what shocks me most was when I called back to explain what happened... No apologies for messing up the order, worker copped a really bad attitude, extremely rude and essentially told me that if I wanted to, I could resolve through GrubHub, because the worker clearly couldn't be bothered to make things right. Will NEVER order from here again. Shocked by their lack of customer service and...
Read moreI'm between 3 and 4 stars. I really like the bagels here, and even when it's a long line the workers are very efficient so it goes fast. They have a great variety of baked goods that look good although I've never tried them. But now I got a wrap for the first time, and I never will again. It is completely underfilled (I asked for it without chicken, but paid full price and there's a way to fill it adequately with the remaining ingredients), and it is wrapped so loosely that I can barely hold it. Because I asked for it hot they stuck it in the microwave (I would generally expect a panini press), and nuked it into oblivion. Now the lettuce is wilted and the tortilla wrap is mushy and it looks and smells terrible. Maybe it was bad service because I came in half an hour before closing? But I wouldn't expect a to-go wrap to be a problem, and if it is they should tell me so I can go elsewhere. Just a complete waste of $10, and such a disappointment. Come here for the bagels, but I do not...
