University Hardware Housewares — Local services in New York

I've gone to University Hardware for years - even before they moved across Broadway to their present location. I've always been happy with the selection, service, and pricing. However, this past week I was having work done on my apartment and needed to purchase six gallons of paint and this is where they outdid themselves.

I was able to send the paint numbers via email and then went by subway down to the store to pick them up. I had dealt with Bob on the phone and via email and met him at the store when I arrived. This is where I realized that six gallons of paint are really heavy and I wasn't going to be able to take them back on the subway by myself. Seeing this Bob first offered to let me borrow a hand truck - but then he came up with an even more generous idea: he would drop them off at my apartment on his way home that evening.

This - right here. This is why I have shopped at University hardware for years and why I will enthusiastically continue to.

University Housewares is truly an incredible place - they have everything you could ever need when moving to a new home, and the staff is knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating.

The owner, Bob went out of his way to help me with my purchases, including a water filter and air conditioner that I needed help installing. Ernesto did a great job with the installations and was always very agreeable and ready to help. At the store, Julio helped me with any issues that I had and supported me in getting amazing appliances and fixtures for my house. I truly appreciate the time and care that University Housewares gave me to make my move so smooth and memorable in the best way possible!

This place is incredible! From the people who answer the phone to the contractors. They were all so polite and professional. They helped me get my newly moved child an ac unit. They came several times. They were very patient with my questions. They sent Ernesto who was the best. They were able to solve the issue in a short amount of time.

They sold and installed a window unit for us and I was in South Carolina so could not even be there. If you need them to help your Columbia student, please call them. I called another place nearby and the owner was not friendly. It is so rare to find this kind of gem these days with this level of customer service.
