Okay I’m a bit disappointed. I really wanted to like this place. I got tamale de elote it was dry and not that flavorful but it could be from corn that wasn’t that sweet to begin with. I got a tamale that was actually really good in flavor but the texture was gelatinous and needed less liquids or more time steaming. Now this place also selling pizza may make a lot of sense when it comes to the sauce on the chuchitos. It taste like canned tomatoe sauce which is fine but it needs something else and they put meat with bones inside which is disappointing to me because I got a chard of bone in my mouth. The pupusas have an off texture but that isn’t the issue it is the filling it is not a melt cheese it is a kind of crumbly one that doesn’t seem to go with the taste or concept of the pupusa I’ve had pupusas many times I have even made them myself and they have never tasted like this and not in a good way. Lastly the Jamaica, not the worst just watery but drinkable. I know many people say this place is authentic but I’m not sure that it is it just taste like a few short cuts. Again I really wanted to like this place as I wanted to be able to support a Guatemalan restaurant there are not many out there. But it was a bit...

Review:
Xelaju is a hidden gem in Jamaica Queens, offering a delightful mix of Guatemalan and Mexican cuisine. My lunch today was a delicious affair with rice, black beans, salad, and beef. While the meat was slightly tough, it paired perfectly with the flavorful rice and beans. The soft drink and pastry I had were spot-on, with just the right amount of sweetness.
The interior of Xelaju is a true reflection of Latin American culture, adorned with vibrant paintings and authentic memorabilia. The soft strains of Latin American music in the background set the perfect mood, not overpowering the conversation. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the service was warm and efficient, enhancing the overall dining experience.
If you’re in the area, Xelaju is a must-visit for a taste of Latin America right in Jamaica Queens. I highly recommend the food, ambiance, and service, which make it a...
