Let me start by saying I live in the neighborhood and have been coming to this location for years. Now, I don’t know if management has changed or what, but it’s been different the last couple times I’ve visited. Please note I am a frequent visitor of all the locations. The only one I haven’t been to is the new Gateway location. My boyfriend and I went last night because he wanted to watch the basketball game but we didn’t want to go to a bar because it’s Lent and we gave up alcohol. We came in and asked immediately if they can change one of the TVs to ESPN for the Primetime NBA game. All of the TVs were on the same soccer channel. The gentleman who sat us down said yes. We ordered ginger ales instead of Texas Sized Margaritas like we would usually. We then both ordered apps. The lights were bright!!! It was 7pm. The music was on some lite fm type station instead of r&b like usual. Why are we listening to Michael Bolton instead of Jodeci!?!? (And I love Michael Bolton, but that’s not what we came here for)We then asked our server about turning to the game. He says ok I’m going to try. He comes back and says he can’t, the TVs won’t turn. I said, you all have done it before and the gentleman we sat us said you could. He says ok, I’ll ask my manager. We’re eating our appetizers and almost finished them. We flag him down, he says no we can’t change the channel because a soccer game is about to start. The entire staff was standing together talking about the game to come. I said so you can’t turn just one tv!?! He said it doesn’t work like that. We decided to leave. We paid for our soda and appetizers, said we didn’t want entrees. If the original gentleman told us they were unwilling, we would have driven somewhere else. But for the TVs to only be in the interest of the staff instead of the patrons is just bad customer service!! It’ll be a while before I’m back at this location and what a shame. Dallas BBQ is dead, it used...
Read morePrevious review was from 2 years ago. I came here today after Easter service with my mom. I asked if we can sit at outside and was told it would probably around 5pm. Not sure why one cannot sit out before a certain time. The waitress didn't say her name upon greeting which is rule number one. My mom had the shrimp salad and enjoyed it. She said the water tasted funny. Her soda was flat. I had the chicken and waffles and it was good. You can see the price difference as my previous review from two years ago similar order and this afternoon it was $41.34 including a ginger ale and ice tea excluding the tip. The check was given without the checkbook. I asked the waitress and she said she has to charge my card. That didn't answer the question as to why she brought a check without the book. Its common courtesy and sense to bring the check in the checkbook. To have to put my card on the table to checkout and have it put back on table with my receipt is not it. Also, my mom said the bathroom needs cleaning. You can tell the carpet could use some cleaning too.
2021- I came here yesterday for take out. I brought a Chicken Caesar Salad and Chicken and Waffles for a total of $28.28. My mother said the salad was plain and chicken had no flavor. For $11.99 I would it expect it to taste better. I had chicken and waffles before and NEVER had scallions in waffles! I don't think its a good addition to waffles! The syrup I am not sure what kind it was but it was not sweet like most syrups are! It seemed like some sweet and sour sauce with a little of sweetness. They need to work on that especially for it to be a new item. My chicken was juicy but had no flavor! I am wondering how too! Even with the sticky sauce, it still was not as tasty as it should be. I waited 15 mins and would of prefer to wait longer for food...
Read moreSo much for first impressions. Walked in the door and no greeting or anything, just a “will you be dining here or to go”. When we said we were dining in, she just pointed to a machine to take our temperature. The hostess starts to walk us to a table and we asked for a booth, since they were extremely slow and almost vacant this should not have been an issue. But she had an attitude and seemed like we were a nuisance. When we sat, we literally waited 10 minutes before we had to ask for a server. The hostess come over and says they were sending someone over soon. 5 more minutes before a server arrives (reminder, there is probably 3 occupied tables in this place during lunch time. Our table was unstable and wobbly. Finally ordered food. Chicken wings were good (starters). The 1/2 chicken was a bit dry and only had small amount of sauce dropped over the top. Went to use the restroom, the sign at the door said the restroom had been cleaned every hour up to 5pm, problem is that it was 2pm. The floors were moist and around the stalls a bit stocky. The mirror was dirty and had a huge crack. Conclusion, food just ok, service not so great. This place is named Dallas bbq and then name is misleading. This place has nothing to do with Texas bbq, not even on near. Maybe if the loose the attitudish hostess, fix the tables, clean up the place, and learn to do real Texas bbq, it could be worth 4 stars. But for now,...
