A Promising Spot, But the Flavor Fell Short.
I was really hoping Ming Kee would be a great new discovery for a traditional Chinese breakfast. The place itself is very promising—it's impeccably clean and organized inside, and the staff had my takeout order ready to go right when I arrived. They definitely know how to make a great Stewed Beef Tendon Rice Roll; the flavors were rich, and the tendon was perfectly tender, which shows they have potential in the kitchen. Unfortunately, that was the only dish that really stood out. I have been in this place many times before and paid at least 15% for tips. However last Sunday, I forgot to give tips when ordering at the front desk, then the woman became very impatient and said “Because you didn’t give me tips, you can only sit at Table 1”. The Table 1 is the only table at the corner and it feels like kind of punishment to eat there. I ordered a HK milk tea for my mom who has diabetes. Usually HK milk tea will come with the sugar packets so we can determine how sweet we want it. When I told the lady to exchange one of the two milk tea with one that doesn’t have sugar, she said we would need to order another one.
