m2o Burgers & Salads — Restaurant in Newark

Chill vibes, relatively fast service and nice location.

I went with friends to m2o for lunch. I got a veggie burger with blue cheese with their m2o sauce and their house battered fries with m2o sauce. My friend got their Philly cheese burger. Prices are about average for these parts. I paid about 12 dollars for my burger and fries while my friend paid about the same for his.

The food was excellent. The veggie burger was crispy and flavourful. The lettuce, onion, pickled peppers and grilled mushrooms I got were fresh and the buns were soft. I can't say how the Philly burger was but my friend raved about it and said it was the best burger he's ever had for under 15 dollars. Fries were also fantastic. Their m2o fry batter has garlic and sea salt in it which makes it taste fantastic and it's crispy to boot which is my favourite kind of fries.

The m2o sauce is not spicy at all, more like a savory mayo type of sauce. I personally like spicy sauces so I wasn't the biggest fan of it but maybe...

I have been going back and forth for over a month now over a gift card for an inconvenience the store was supposed to give me. I ordered for delivery and when my burger came the avocado on my burger was completely brown and old. I called the store to let them know and I was told I can come down for another burger and a gift card. I walked 20 minutes down to the store and received the new burger after an almost 30 minute wait and then gave my phone number because the worker said it would have to be an e-gift card which I was fine with. I never received the gift card and called the very next day to inform them of this. I have been calling ever since to ask what happened and when can I speak to a manager. I spoke to management 1 time about coming down just for them not to be there when I arrived. Every time I call they say the manager isn’t there there at the moment. The food is what you expect, solid burger, decent fries, milkshakes are alright. Service is meh at best. Usually don’t get a greeting when you arrive, even when the restaurant is entirely empty. They stand there by the stove lost in their own conversations and say nothing. In fact the only words exchanged between us on my visit today was “order 16,” not even a ‘you’re welcome’ after I made eye contact and said “thank you.”

But that’s not my main issue. My problem is the sheer amount of flies that are inside. It’s disgusting. You spend your time swatting them away from your food while you eat, stomping your feet to shake them off your legs, slapping them off your arm or head. And if the flies are that pervasive while you’re eating, it’s only logical to assume they’re walking all over the unprepared ingredients. It’s truly gross and I’m concerned about how they were possibly awarded a health...
