My Cafe — Restaurant in Newark

Breakfast served ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!! Now we have a place where we can do breakfast for dinner! It's not often you find places that do that, especially one where they are all about using high quality ingredients. This place is a family owned business serving the East Bay for 10 years that just recently reopened for dinner hours. On top of that, they have daily specials AND happy hour specials! Don't forget to check out their Mimosa Special too.

I HIGHLY recommend the SF Scramble...so good! I would come back just for that!

I went in on the morning of June 16th at around 730am to eat breakfast. I am from Texas and wanted to try a local place for food. The food and service was excellent! I paid for my food and leaving a $5.00 tip on my card. I got a notification from Capital one this very morning June 20th 2019 asking me if I had left a 154% tip in the amount of $37.49! So of corse I let the bank know that this was fraudulent. I reached out to the Cafe Manager as he said he was and he said that this had happened last week Sunday as well to another customer. My waitress was a younger, taller, bigger hispanic girl for lack of description or name. I am not sure who wrote that insane tip amount in or how they caluculated it but someone there is doing people wrong. They probably thought I would never be back because I was from out of town. Who knows.

My recommendation to everyone who eats here is to pay with only cash. I really really hate dishonest and criminal people. I work for my money and I will not stand by and let this slide. My banks fraud department is on the case and will be in touch with the owners today and get back to me.

My multi-star review of My Cafe should have come several years ago as I have been patronizing this excellent American family restaurant during my trips here from Salem-Silverton, Oregon. In a land of foreign cuisines I am afraid to consume in fear of death, this inviting My Cafe stands out as one of the very best of three all American diners I know of in the Newark, Fremont and Union City areas. Like another reviewer I love the California avocado laden Vintage Burger. The wonderful spaghetti and meatballs always has me singing the tune "On Top Of Spaghetti." Google the song now and smile. The waitresses are exceptionally cute for the guys (sorry Victor, you are not). So for delicious food, prompt service and real nice people My Cafe is the destination. Victor just needs to remove the stinky plastic plant from the men's restroom and see if he likes the fauna in his bathroom!!!
