It’s time for sushi, we have quite a few places to go around the area, Fremont, Newark, Union city, my favorite place is still Tomi buffet, but the kids prefer sushi restaurants, I didn’t like Pier98, I prefer Maneki, but the family wanted to try a new one, O’ Sushi, this one seems to be run by Korean instead of Chinese chefs at Pier98 or Tomi. The place is quite small but well laid out, there’s a big screen TV and sushi bar. The prices are similar to others around the area, the inexpensive rolls are mostly fake crabs, California rolls types, quite expensive to me $11-13. The $15 rolls would have real tuna or sashimi of some kinds. The rolls are quite tasty, I like the rice here, just right and sweet. Some rolls are smaller than others, but for 4, $17/person will be efficient, 4-5 rolls. The place is extremely crowded on a Friday night, the servers are quite quick and efficient, they will prefer you eat and run due to people waiting, not sure if it’s a place for the first date LOL, you will feel guilty if eating and interviewing your date too long while hungry people are looking at you wanting their tables. I and my wife like the warrior ($15), the kids like Loki, Poki, Atlantic and some other roll. The miso soup is $1.50 each if you want, it’s not complementary with sushi rolls. I normally don’t like places that nickel and dime for little bowls of soup like Pier98. I used to like it before the new management stops providing miso soup. I could get miso soup packages in Hankook supermarket with better taste for less than .30. So, will we come back here again, may be, there are different rolls with different tastes between these restaurants, I think it’s depend on the day... any is possible. I don’t really care for the mayo dressing on the rolls, too...

Quick place to grab some Japanese style food.

More often than not they are able to seat you - I've never been here on a weekend dinner rush though.

If you're looking for top service with top Japanese food - this isn't really the place (or the price! Lol) for that, ozumo in SF or Santana Row is my suggestion.

My roomies and I normally grab a table and our own orders with some rolls to share. It looks like a vietnamese family bought it - our room mate used to work here.

Service reminds me of a Pho restaurant If that makes any sense to you.

Cut & dry - menus on the table. Place order. Refill drinks. Pay for the tab.

Which I'm fine with and is expected for that price range & I love going to Pho places (like Pho VN for you Union City peeps)

Just for a comparison of service. We know what to expect and it's just fine.

I got the dinner set 1/2 rice bowl 1/2 ramen.

I got my miso soup and salad first - both good. My udon was a bit small and disappointing but wow the chirashi / sashimi bowl (1/2) was bigger so I feel like I won out on that.

My roomies had Fried chicken Gyoza Yaki Udon Veggie Sushi Set

All fire. Great...

The food is decent but what makes this place standout is the service. They give you a free appetizer (today was edamame), and all the wait staff are always walking around checking on everyone, even those who are not your “designated” waiter. I ordered omakase and they apparently didn’t believe a single female could eat that much so they gave me kamikaze, but then removed it from the bill due to the misunderstanding (though it was funny because they kept confirming multiple times I truly wanted omakase, which is 40+ pieces of sashimi).

The omakase is less chef’s selection and more comprehensive sampler, as it’s basically a couple pieces of every type of sashimi on a boat. Unlike other places that offer omakase, it’s a large quantity of food and comes with soup and salad as well so you definitely get full.

Overall, it’s not the highest quality sushi but the service and value still make this place an...
