This place charged my card 3 times, all for more than what I ordered. I sat down here for a drink before a flight, specifically a glass of sweet California Rosè for $12. I placed my order with the server rather than on my phone, and this was a mistake. The server charged my card 3 times for 3 completely different amounts, totaling to $72.22. This is $60 more than what I ordered.
When I pointed out what was happening to the server, she became very rude and called me crazy just for asking why I had been charged so much. Finally, the general manager Emmanuel Desior came over to tell me the charges would be refunded. Despite this affirmation, he refused to give me any receipt showing the refunds and explained it was impossible to give me one, as the refund had been issued before the receipt generated. I asserted that a receipt was necessary, but he then assured me I would get my money back since he gave me his name. This is extremely suspicious and I will never return to Riviera, and I certainly won’t allow a server to process my order themselves.
This has started my trip at a $60 deficit and I’m truly unsure that Emmanuel actually refunded my money. I hope that Riviera and OTG stick by their word and issue my refund, but I would recommend that everyone avoids this restaurant altogether. Save yourself the trouble, the worry, and the money and pick one of the many other...
Read moreI had an issue with the service and the way my bill was handled. First off, they don’t take Apple Pay so you need to have a physical credit card with you. Second off, the waiter manually typed my credit card number on his iPad, away from my field of view, which was a little odd, and asked for my email to send a receipt. He later brought my burger (fine, good size, with lettuce and tomato, but no condiments) and French fries (floppy, not fresh, slightly warm.)
The issue came when I was trying to close out my bill and he tried to get me to just leave. He said that my tab would close automatically and I would receive the bill by email. Feeling suspicious, I asked to “close it now” and he begrudgingly walked over to his iPad while I followed, and he tapped a button on the screen. I got the receipt by email a moment later and saw that he had added an 18% tip to my bill without my permission and without telling me. Nowhere on the menu or at the restaurant was it written that a tip would be automatically included. I dined alone, so it wasn’t a group-size premium.
This waiter arguably did not deserve a tip, as he did little work and was solely transactional. But still, if I had chosen myself, I would have selected a 20% tip like I always do (whether the waiter deserves it or not.) I am bothered, not because I was charged for a tip, but because I was unaware that it...
Read moreSketchy place... first of all, they make you pay & tip(!) when you order your food. Then the waiter hands you this computer to fill in your name, phone number (or email address), and type your entire credit card number, exp date, & code. They dont give paper receipts, no card scanner either. Very distracting. The poor waiter spent half his time explaining that these were company rules, not his. NO flexibility in the menu, ie; I wanted a cup of tomato soup, nope, couldn't have it unless I ordered the Grilled Cheese & Tomato soup combo (more$$).. The salmon I had (machine-cut 1/2 inch thick previously frozen slab) was actually cooked & seasoned perfectly for its thin size. Although you're not left hungry since lots of corn comes on the plate as well. My waiter (Carlos) provided stellar service & checked on me at just the right times. I make allowances for "airport food", but this company, probably operating under a well-protected franchise from the airport authority, has no real incentive to provide a good experience to customers. I come to EWR often, and this is my second crummy experience in Terminal C. Maybe it's better in...
