This would be more of a two and a half star review if I could, but I'll bump it up to three.
First off, airport food is expected to be expensive but the best 'deal' they have is a burger, fries, and two beers for $35. Holy cow. But with a 5 hour layover and nothing else really around that seemed good (or cheaper) we went with Wanderlust Burger Bar. Ordering was simple enough. Drinks came out fairly quickly and the food actually got to us rather quickly as well. Burger was pretty good, so were the fries. Service was friendly. However, we never received our second drink and I hit the request for service on the iPad at our table and no one ever showed up to help. So, we went to the bar portion of their place and the first guy behind the bar acted like I was inconveniencing him and was a bit rude. The other employee however was quick to fix the issue and gave us our drink. Overall the first visit was not too bad.
On our return trip, however, things went a little further south. Once again at EWR with a long layover I decided to order some fries for myself and my friend. Everything came fairly quick once more and I was actually surprised at the amount of fries we received. But the billing software was having issues, and then I was double charged for my order. I went to the employee and showed him the receipts for the double charge. A few minutes later he said it was fixed and gave me a printed receipt that showed it had been removed.
The next day I checked my account to make sure this had been done and I found out that he did NOT remove the charge but somehow had charged it AGAIN. So now I had THREE charges on my account. I called their corporate office to seek a resolution to this, but it took a bit to find this information and I almost gave up and called my bank to have the charges removed. Luckily I found it through another source and contacted them about the issue. They stated they would "pass it on" and they would "get to it when the could" which was not very assuring. No indication to offer anything for the inconvenience. Just that they would get to it eventually. It took about 72 hours for them to finally fix the issue. The good news is it was fixed, however.
The Good: Food was not that bad actually. Service for the most part was friendly and quick in my experience I had. The beer was actually pretty good and a decent sized glass, more than I expected.
The Bad: One of the employees was a bit rude. Hunting down corporate info was a bit obscure. Not tending to requests for assistance.
The Ugly: Double charging, then charging again after claiming the double charge was fixed. Software is buggy, and reading other reviews here, I suspect is the reason for double charges. It needs fixed because it's taking people's...
Read moreWhen I arrived at the airport, I walked by this place a couple times and there were many people waiting in line for take out burgers. When I decided to give it a try, the same people were still waiting. I put my order in. I asked a few people how long they had been waiting. Some had been waiting 30 minutes! While I was waiting, several people canceled their orders because their flights were boarding. Bob was told they were out of mushrooms for his burger so he told them to make it without them. Amy asked several times how long her order was going to be and they never found her order. You could plainly see that there was no organization happening in that kitchen. They called Bobs name again so he walked over to the counter just to be ignored. More employees joined and it didn’t get much better. Eventually Bob was told they bumped his order!! He stood there for 45 minutes just to be told they deleted his order. Two more customers were also told their orders were bumped. To get a refund, you have to go to a website to request it and you have to know the order total. I received my burger after a wait of 42 minutes. It did not have any sides with it. The burger was good, but not $22 plus 20% tip and 42 minutes later good. 2 of the cooks were doing their best to keep up, but the third was the one who kept bumping peoples orders. They were obviously serving the customers that were seated first. If you can’t handle sit down and take out, shut down take out. Is it worth having to refund money and lose future customers? I will never go back there if I’m ever unlucky enough to have a...
Read more[AVOID AT ALL COST] Ordered a burger and an “old fashioned”. Waited for an hour and only got the “old fashioned” after waiting for 30 minutes - knowing this place is in an airport airside waiting area where people have flights to catch! Waited for 1 hour and still didnt get food, but I needed to leave so I flagged a staff asking for refund, who said ok but never came back. Talked to the front desk and got completely ignored with super cocky attitude. Just got off the call with my credit card company and will dispute the payment. It’s fraudulent to let people who have planes to catch wait an hour and don’t deliver the food, and refuse to refund. BTW here’s a photo of their $19 (pre-tip) “old fashioned” -
Continued - they refunded the burger that never showed up but only refunded the burger - didn’t refund the tax and tips which is calculated based on the total. Honestly I don’t care about the couple of bucks but how they treated the situation was so obnoxious. I hope this review is enough to drive you away from the place but the u fortunate fact is they have enough foot traffic and...
