Novella — Restaurant in Newark

Service was average, but the food is so overpriced, poorly made, unflavorful, lukewarm, and my party only ended up eating about a third of what we were served because it was so disgusting, which is insane because our meal was 250 dollars for only 3 people. The fried calamari was room temp when it came out and we barely touched it cause it was so gross. My shrimp were fine but the bread that came with that looked like wonder bread only toasted on one side. It’s just so ridiculous how places like this take advantage of hungry travelers and charge them top dollar for cheap poorly made food. I’ve had better food than this at restaurants a third of the price. The price is comparable to a high-end restaurant but the food quality is not even up to par with Chili’s and Applebees. The only reason this place is still in business is because it’s in an airport. This is absolutely disappointing. I hope whoever runs this...

My meal arrived with a hair so long you would have had to be blind not to see it! I pointed it out to the server. She took it away however, far from being apologetic I was subjected to dirty looks from the kitchen staff and the wait staff virtually ignored me. The replacement meal arrived, the burger was raw and the fries flattened like mush. I left as I had no confidence on what else might have been done to my food. I was $32 down and had to go to the adjoining food court to get something to eat. PS, when I got my second meal I had to ask several times for a knife and fork!! STAY AWAY!!!!

Had a 2 hour layover after arriving at C123 this evening. My next departure gate was C87. So I started wandering in search of dinner. I wandered past Novella a few times before looking at their menu. 10 oz burger, ground prime and the staff seemed to be enjoying their work. Enter Orlando, the gentleman that cooked my burger to perfection. It was thick, had substance, juicy and cooked exactly as I had requested it be cooked, medium well. Flavor was spot on. Bun was grilled. Tomato and ample leaf o lettuce. Took me back 40 years to the big juicy burgers backyard bbqs are known for.

Server was efficient. Food was delivered promptly, hot. Drink was refilled in a timely manner.
