A complete nightmare. This is hands down the worst airport I have ever had the displeasure of being in. I expect to be price gouged at an airport but Newark takes the cake. 18$ beer!? 36$ for a double shot of mid range booze!? Absolutely outrageous. Then there is their nightmare of an ordering system. No cash is taken at any of the restaurants. You have to use there app or order online. Okay, but it is one of the most worthless apps I have used. What if you lost your phone? Not confident in using a phone? You don't speak the language? There are so many reasons why this system is the stupidest I have ever experienced, and I have worked in the service industry for around 30 years. I wouldn't have left a review, as I rarely care enough to do so, but it was when I wanted to eat that sent in a downward spiral into restaurant Hell. Melange, a cute little place, food looked good, and it was clean enough. I sat down at the bar dreading the ordering process for the third time that day. This time it went rather smoothly. I ordered a drink and a charcuterie board. Simple right? Hell no! After I ordered, the cook told the bartender that they are out of it. I was like "That's fine, I will just go somewhere else. Then the bartender says just choose another item around the same price. I told him that I would just like my card credited and I would go somewhere else. He then tells my he can't refund the order due to their moronic ordering system. So I give in and tell him another item. Sorry the cook says without coming out to talk to me himself, coward. So I try a third time. Nope, go fly a kite customer. Now I am getting pissed. I just paid almost 60$ for absolutely nothing and they can't help me at all. They tell me to contact corporate. Yeah, corporate is always such. Help. Needless to say avoid this airport at all costs, if you can't bring a...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. First, my mom and I ordered a burger, a side of fried, a chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich, and a lemonade and diet coke. It was $54. However, all food in this airport is INSANELY expensive and there are no inexpensive options unless you hit a newsstand, which I wish now that we had done.
When they brought our drinks out they were warm and the coke was flat. Our food then came, but they brought my mom's burger and my fries, but not my sandwich (all were on the same bill). After some questioning from the waitress that made ME feel as though I did something wrong, she said she could go ask, in a tone that made it seem like a major inconvenience. No apology, no customer service whatsoever.
My sandwich came out before she had to go ask, thank goodness. Our food (that took 20 minutes to come) was all room-temperature at best. My sandwich also had GOBS of mayo on it, which I hate and wouldn't have ordered if I had seen that listed on the menu (so, those with food allergens, beware). My sandwich still somehow managed to be dry and bland, and my mom's burger was undercooked.
They made us add the gratuity and pay before we were ever allowed to speak with a human being, and their is no room to change anything or attempt to substitute anything on the iPad, so you are entirely locked in to everything here. Would NOT recommend, even...
Read moreMy review is about the actual bakery goods of the french flare for snacking. And, not for the sandwich meals. And, my interaction with this young little lady was so great, I wanted to become her fan. She gave me the cheer I needed. I sampled 6 pieces of pastries. I also had the Ham Croissant Sandwich to go with other Custard and sliced cheese cake pieces in 2 striped pink boxes, as my Christmas eve treat on the flight to London. And, they tasted fresh, croissant sandwich was crunchy, very Authentically European, And, not too sweet. So, it makes them real French /Belgian baking to me. Unlike other passengers waiting for pulled bbq chicken sandwiches in a long line, I got mine all packed and checked out in less than 5 min. Even the same lady walked out to the check out point to help with grabbing the drink and chocolates. Well, that is the true hospitality she showed to me, and, I was really really thankful for her kind heart on such a holiday rush. I will conceive her kindness and share it to the next who will...
