Always a good time here. Party of 5 . We overstayed our welcome. The staff was great. Sangria. There are two vegetarian options. One option is a vegetable paella, and the other option is a vegetable plate with rice beans, vegetables, and two boiled potatoes. It’s not the most fabulous looking plate, but it is delicious and a good option for myself who is the only vegetarian in the party. The veg paella is very good however it’s super large and I know that if I take it home, I probably wouldn’t eat it so I don’t wanna waste it, but the vegetable pie is a good option if you have someone to share it with. My husband ordered salmon. My friends ordered a T-bone steak, beef, short ribs, and garlic shrimp. We had an abundance of olives and bread and cheese on the table as well as we ordered a bottle of water. We were so full that we couldn’t have dessert. However, my husband took the lemon cheesecake home my friend also took that home. I wanted to take the crème brûlée home and I would’ve appreciated that I was told that they would not prepare the crème brûlée like they would in the restaurant meaning that they put the sugar and then they toasted so that you can have that hard shell on top. Basically what I was given in a plastic container was something that looked like yellow pudding and I really didn’t appreciate that. An assumption was made that that was OK to give to me. Because it was not so I handed it back to them and we did not choose to take that home. My only request is, please advise the customer that if you take something home, it may not be prepared the way that it would be prepared at the restaurant - That that’s my only request. The restrooms are downstairs, which is not convenient for someone that’s handicapped. However, perhaps in a different part of the restaurant there’s a handicap restroom. I’m just not aware of it. There’s parking across the street with an attendant, and the parking is free with a few handicap spaces. However, the gentleman says that he will watch your car for you until you come out and basically that means when you come out to your car, you really should give him a few dollars for doing so. I’m not sure if this is something that the store is aware of or approved, but we’ve always parked there and we’ve never had a problem with our car. We highly recommend the restaurant we always dine in the Villa Nova room, which is the main dining room. A more dressed down type of room with TVs is available if you just wanna walk in and be comfortable instead of sitting at a fancier dining setting. I recommend this for occasions such as anniversaries and other occasions. The staff is great, always accommodating. The owner if he’s there, he’ll stop by and chat...
Read moreWe are giving this restaurant one star because we have no choice. When we first sat down they offered us white cheese and it had no flavor. The bread brought to the table was cold and hard. We ordered garlic shrimp as as appetizer and the shrimp was cold and it had no garlic flavor at all. We ordered the melon and ham and the ham tasted like it had been in the fridge too long and the pieces of melon were huge and not appetizing at all. The olives were ok but had their pit which makes it hard to enjoy. We decided at that very moment that we wanted to cancel the order pay for what we had on our table because we knew that the food was really going to be bad. The manager after being told we had to cancel the order he was very rude and wanted to force us to pay for the food that we didn't have on our table. He kept ranting and raging and berated his employee. We offered to pay for what we received numerous times. The manager refused to listen and sent his waiter to talk to us. After we asked to talk to the manager again, they told us to get out. Again we wanted to pay for the food that we didn't eat and they were truly the rudest people ever. He also told us never to return to the restaurant. Thank God we don't live in New Jersey and when we visit there are plenty of other good restaurants. We came here based on reviews
In response to your reply: It really doesn't help if you start to say lies. We didn't want to eat the food because it was of poor quality NOT because we couldn't afford it. We dine out in really upscale restaurants and that's why we visited your place but found it was just not good. We didn't eat all of the bread because it was stale and cold. We didn't eat all of the cheese. The olives were complimentary and eaten but again they had pits which makes it hard to eat. We wanted to like it really but we COULDN'T!We offered to pay but the manager acted up and verbally abused the waiter. The waiter told us that it would come out his pocket which is unfair. We have family in the restaurant business and know how important the tips are. Again own up to admit that you were not happy hearing that the food was awful and unappetizing. The manager flipped out and didn't keep his professionalism when he stormed back and forth yelling at the waiter who took care of us. Lastly I guarantee I will not be the last person to complain unless you start cooking better....
Read moreWE have been coming here for years; like 40 to be exact. Last night my husband and I went there for dinner. I ordered bacalau a bras and 3 bites into my meal I found a hair. I called the waiter and he immediately took my meal away. Came back and asked what I would like to order. At this point I really had lost my appetite but ordered grilled salmon without even taking a look at the menu. I wanted something quick and easy so I could eat my meal and leave. He walked away so quickly I didn’t get the opportunity to tell him what sides I would like or how I would like my salmon cooked. 40 mins went by and my husband had finished his meal, his plate was taken away and I still didn’t have my meal. At this time I asked if they had forgotten my order to please cancel and bring us the check. I waiter asked if I can wait a minute he would check with the kitchen. Came back and said it would be a few minutes. I told him since he had not returned to check in on us, he never asked how I wanted my salmon cooked and I like it rare. I asked him to please let the kitchen know not to overcook it. A few minutes later he showed up with my meal. Salmon overcooked, dry and the sides extremely salty. As I sat there eating basically alone and no appetite the owner came by to say hello and asked why I was still eating and my husband was all done. I explained what had happened and in his words “so sorry, these things happen sometimes” and walked away. I had taken two bites and asked the waiter to please bring us the check. The check came and they charged me for the salmon I didn’t eat or enjoy because of the entire hair experience. I called the waiter over and told him to charge my credit card and I felt they should at least have charged me the price of my original order which as $4.00 less. He said he didn’t have the ok from the owner so he could not do it on his own. It’s not the money it’s a matter of principal. I also told him that I would never return to that restaurant again. The least the owner could have done was to credit my glass of wine to make us feel like he cared enough about his customers. No...
