Sushi House 21 — Restaurant in Newark

If you understand what fresh top quality fish is supposed to taste like, then you will love Sushi House 21! Nelson Yip is an amazing chef who cares about quality over profits. Nelsons sashimi is the best you can find anywhere. I have been to the most expensive sushi restaurants in NYC/Dubai/Moscow where the bill ends up being over US $500 per person and I still prefer Nelsons fish and presentation to anywhere i have ever been. And price wise i don't think you will ever find the quality for such a low price. If you like steak try the steak that comes on a stone for you to cook yourself. It is AMAZING. If you like rolls you wont be disappointed. Nelson can make any roll you can think of and it will melt in your mouth. He makes his own ginger from ginger root and not that imitation pink ginger that other restaurants use because they only care about profits. If you not only enjoy sushi but know what good fish is supposed to taste like.. you will not be able to eat sushi anywhere else. I have converted over 20 people, who swore their favorite sushi place couldn't be beat, by having them try Nelsons seared yellowtail sushi. I only have ordered to Takeout and delivery. I love this family owned and operated Sushi 🍣 restaurant. Manny Sushi places are opening and closing in the neighborhood before I even get to try them and the ones I have given a chance they don't surprise me for the positive. I was a Banzai customer before Sushi House 21. I like both but Sushi House 21 is the most consistent and reliable!

Updated Review: New owners for sure! I ordered from here almost every Saturday. I went away in the summer 2024 for 3 months came back to a big disappointment. One of the times no Wasabi on the order, also the soy sauce packages are scarce and the rolls are messy. I order 2 rolls and at least four of the peace had shrimp shell on it. It is annoying to chew on shrimp shell only the one end piece should have the shell where it could easily be pulled off. Anyways this time I got Wasabi but the order was very messy the rolls are coming apart. It is very disappointing to...

Cute location at the corner all cover in red & great lady for a very warm service there but when I come it was empty and cold, nothing on the tables & quite messy at the back....I could see they were working hard....I set down and made three sets order of Tuna.....come to my table, it didn't look so fresh....and then I ordered banana tempura....I nearly got sick when I woke up in the morning...The oil to fry the banana didn't seem to be good to use...remember this family are Chinese....How can they get quality of a Japanese market...impossible.....They are very strict when it comes to food...I live in Tokyo for many years...Easy for me to...
