Hamburgao - Newark NJ — Restaurant in Newark

Deliciously different! If you want a regular hamburger, this is not the place to go. Hamburgao translated from Portuguese, means big hamburger. They serve a Brazilian twist on the hamburger, and they are big. Also, they serve grilled chicken sandwiches. My favorite is the California Beef and California Frango. There hamburgers, instead of ground beef, consist of thinly (although not too thin/don't think of cheese steak thin) sirloin steak, and they are delicious. The California is served with mozzarella, lettuce, ham, tomatoes, mayo and pineapple on a soft hamburger bun. The California Frango is served the same way, but it includes chicken breast instead of steak.

The fries always have been hot and crispy. One of the California sandwiches and a large fry will cost around $10, and it is large enough to share, if one feels so inclined.

The restaurant is small, but I have never had to wait long for a table. The service has always been mediocre at best. The drinks are in a cooler, where you can just grab your own. I do not recommend the juices, as they are way overpriced.

Parking is limited and parallel street parking, as is normal for most of Newark. Be prepared to walk a few blocks or park and Uber to the restaurant.

I still give the a 5 though, because I have been several times, and the food always has been fresh, hot, and scrumptious. Every time I visit Newark, I try to stop in for my favorite, as I have not found anything close anywhere else. If you are stopping in for the first time, definitely try one of the sandwiches...

I came to this location after visiting the Kearny location and the quality is absolutely night and day different. In Kearny you receive a fresh ground smash burger that is very greasy, with warmed ingredients/bun. In Ironbound Newark you're served a frozen patty that is not only lacking in quality to the Kearny patty, but invariably is less than half of the size and I mean it. The ingredients on the burger taste cold and stale. The vibe with the staff giggling and laughing dicking around was a bit off for sure too, but my server was awesome and kind.

I had an egg burger with no lettuce ($11) a cappucino $4 and a buttered roll $2 and I walked 3 miles to try their food hoping for a nice bombass burger with fries like I had had at Kearny. Honestly shocked the reviews at Newark show a .3 increase over Kearny Hamburgao and the fact they're the same restaurant chain baffles me the same. The $2 buttered roll was really delicious and fresh. I ate 1/3 of my burger and left the rest with a short note on my receipt for the staff.

Now that I have bought here I can check off Hamburgao from the list. It's looks really nice, last time I passed by them, it looked alright. Service was excellent and the staff is very friendly. Pretty affordable prices. I ordered Da Casa burger and small fries, to be honest it wasn't the best nor the worst burger and fries. The only sauce that comes with the burger is ok nothing special. The fries are ok, I didn't get to finish them. I got full with the burger, not satisfying full but as in I don't want to eat it anymore.
