I first discovered Jersey Mike's in Newcastle about three years ago. The sandwich was amazing and the customer service was great. Recently some of the customer service has not been the same and I have taken note of that. Most of the employees are very polite and normally offer a welcoming greeting as soon as you walk in the door. Just to be clear, the reason I gave a rating of only one star had nothing to do with the food, but with the customer service that I have received. Not long ago I came in and was paying for my meal with a twenty dollar bill that I will admit, looked a little worn because I had held it in my hand balled up for a little while. To make a long story short, the employee helping me refused to accept the money because he said it looked fake to him. A different employee came over and completed the transaction. A few weeks later when the employee realized that I was indeed a regular customer, he apologized to me and things have been fine with him since. The thing that really upsets me the most was somehow I ended up with a card for a free sub that I paid $5.00 for that I was told had already been redeemed and they refused to accept it. I explained that I have many cards because I supported the month of giving and I always hand the card over to the cashier when I pay. I was accused of trying to deliberately use an old card over again which was crazy since for one, I had several cards that I had purchased, and two, I could easily afford to pay for my sandwich without any coupon if necessary. I feel that the situation could have been handled better and was very embarrassing for me. That on top of the fake money insult is why I am making this post, not to mention that they forgot to make one of my sabwiches. In closing, Kevin did a great job calming me down and explaining his take on the matter. I simply used a different card and got my sandwiches. He also refused to give me back the card that he said had already been used so that I could take it up with the place I believe I purchased it at. Overall, service may not be the greatest, but...
Read moreThe sandwiches are good and the quality is pretty consistent. They're a whole lot better than Subway that's across the street. That being said, the prices are very high for what you get and the service is sub average (no pun intended). The service is ok at best. For some reason they always prioritize online orders over in-store customers. When I went in there, I was the only customer in the store. They didn't start making my order until they were done making about 5 sandwiches for online orders. The people that ordered online weren't even there to pick them up, why not prioritize the in-store customer? Also, it doesn't look like there is any leadership among the employees. It looks like a few disorganized teenagers doing whatever without supervision. In summary, it's fine if you're craving a particular type of sandwich or if you have a coupon. Otherwise, there are better options...
Read moreOnline ordered a bowl for pickup and when I arrived they were still working on it. Not a big deal, I sat and waited for my order to be ready. I saw the guy behind the counter picking out cheese from the meat and taking the meat and putting it on a bowl. That bowl turned out to be mine, and when I got home my entire bowl and the cover and everything inside my bag was covered in oil. On initial inspection of the bowl, I thought there was no lettuce but after opening it, I saw there was a very very thin layer of lettuce on the bottom. The meat wasn’t cut up very well and looked like a pile of slop and also forgot the pepperoni. A little disappointed, as I have had better experiences at other jersey...
