FRIENDLY SERVICE ! On Sunday my wife and I rode our eBikes to the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve. On the back end of our 30 mile bike ride we stopped by here around 12.15pm for a light lunch. Kean Coffee roast their own coffee beans so you know you are getting a fresh product and trust me a top quality one. So far as food goes they buy in their pastries, cakes, quiches, cookies from reliable local suppliers. It was pretty packed out on the outdoor patio when we parked our eBikes. And when I walked inside to place our order almost every seat was taken. A cashier named Melea took our order for 1 x 12oz ( smallest size available ) Cappuccino with 2% milk and hazelnut syrup ( house made syrup ), 1 x Cortado with 2% milk and hazelnut syrup ( house made syrup ) and 2 x Quiches ( roasted veggie and Spinach & Mushroom ). Melea asked if we wanted them warmed up....yes please. I would have preferred a Ham & Cheese Croissant but they were all out Melea told us. We paid upfront and found a vacant table just inside the main entrance. Someone will yell out my name as things are ready to pick up from the espresso counter. It's a shame they don't have tall windows they can open up to the outside world...it can get a bit claustrophobic inside when it is very busy. Our warmed up Quiches were ready fairly quickly but we waited a few minutes more for our coffees. I was hangin' back from the espresso bar when I saw the male barista place my Cappuccino with latte art on the service counter. I made the comment to him that we just got back from a 3 week vacation in Italy and Paris where the cappuccino ( in a small cup ) rules and there is no such thing as latte art let alone lattes. He gave me a resigned look. Next up my wife's Cortado was placed on the counter. I took both drinks to our table. Of course I ordered a cappuccino just to see what I would get...I always order a latte which comes with latte art. A latte's composition is quite different to a cappuccino but in most of the coffee shops where we have been in the USA a cappuccino will look just like a latte. PRETTY FUNNY ! Back in Australia which has the most advanced coffee culture on the planet a cappuccino is served completely differently to a latte...different cup, different texture milk and definitely no latte art. Our little quiches tasted good enough for brought in food...fresh made is always better. My cappuccino / latte tasted alright but my wife didn't finish her cortado...hardly any sweetener. A BIT...
Read moreWalking into Kéan Coffee, I was immediately greeted by the warm ambiance and the rich aroma of freshly roasted coffee that promised a great start to my day. I decided to treat myself to two of their most popular hot drinks: the Turkish Caffe Latte with Cardamom and the Classic Italian Cappuccino.
The Turkish Caffe Latte was a delightful surprise. Infused with cardamom, the coffee was aromatic and had a soothing, spicy twist that set it apart from the usual latte. It was both comforting and invigorating, making it a perfect choice for those who enjoy a bit of spice in their life.
The Classic Italian Cappuccino was just as impressive. Expertly crafted with the perfect ratio of espresso, steamed milk, and foam, it was smooth and robust. Each sip was a testament to the skilled baristas who clearly know their craft. The rich texture and deep, full-bodied espresso blend provided a classic experience that brought a little piece of Italy to Southern California.
The customer service at Kéan Coffee was top-notch. The baristas were friendly and welcoming, contributing to a lively and inviting atmosphere. They were knowledgeable and passionate about their coffee, willing to share details about the different blends and preparation methods. This level of service, combined with exceptional drinks, made my visit memorable.

Read moreIf gold and diamonds could have a flavor, this coffee shop delivers it in a cup! Coffee beans are roasted on-site, literally, as I’m writing this review and drinking the coffee I just purchased along with a delicious blueberry scone. In my opinion, the environment is absolutely fantastic, comfortable, cozy, and I believe sets an example of what a coffee shop really should be. Considering it’s not very large, there seems to be a good use of space while creating a reasonably intimate atmosphere. There’s a wide variety of coffee available for purchase to take home and grind yourself, while the hot coffee available for purchase and drinking may vary slightly day today. So while for some of you reading this may consider the distance from where you are to the store a bit far to grab a coffee every morning to work, at least you can check it out on the weekends and perhaps by a couple of bags of your own coffee beans to grind at home. But of course the trick is figuring out how much you need to use to make the same flavored cup! I would recommend visiting this place at minimum three times and try something different and see what you think for yourself! The coffee is flavorful and the selection of items to eat are plenty full, so it’s very likely you’ll find...
