I consider Reborn in Corona Del Mar as the one of the top coffee shops in OC. I can say the location of this coffee shop is the best location you may find. It is in a walking distance to beach. This location attracts new staff regularly but all staff are friendly and professional. Their drinks is amazing. Try their Caramel cold latte and also hot teas. Drip coffee is a good one but sometimes it is not hot, you can try Americano instead. This coffee shop closes somewhat early evenings (I.e., 5 pm on weekdays and 6 pm on Friday and Saturday). I’d recommend trying their pastry. Also they have an interesting award/membership program. Don’t forget to sign up. This time tried Strawberry Matcha, tasted good and was designed very well. Recently, tried La Royal, a seasonal cold drink consisted of mango and iced tea, tajin, etc. I think the ingredients were not in a good harmony. This is an addition to my earlier review: Tried Gold Turmetic Latte. It tasted good but some may not like as the base taste comes from turmeric. It is turmeric mixed with your choice of milk and is being served hot or iced. It looked beautiful though. Strongly recommend CARAMEL SWEET CREAM COLDBREW LATTE; it...
Read moreTL:DR - Great espresso and filter coffee, along with a nice selection of coffee beans and gear for brewing at home. Barista was friendly, and the place has a nice vibe.
More details - it looks like Reborn has its own roastery (though not at the Corona Del Mar site), and I believe the brew the same beans they offer for sale... very nice single-origin beans (like the Ethiopia Sidama Bensa I bought a bag of to take home), which have been processed and roasted to bring out some very pleasing flavor notes. Definitely third-wave style coffee, which might catch you off-guard if you're used to more traditional roasty/bitter flavors, but I love the diversity and complexity of tastes that it offers. I really enjoyed the shot of espresso I had here. It was a lighter roast, which in my experience is tricky to do well, but this shot was perfectly extracted - very nice sweetness, just the right amount of acidity, and a small amount of dryness/bitterness at the finish to balance things out. Texture was also very nice - heavy and almost syrupy....
Read moreMy husband and I came in and ordered a pour over on Saturday April 23rd at 2:15 pm. The girl at the counter first tried to convince us that we should get a drip coffee because, "it's the same as a pour over". Afterwards I asked for half n half, as I like a tablespoon (I understand that coffee snobs will shame for this, but I like what I like), the male barista and the front counter girl REFUSED to give me any half n half because, "we won't spend that much time on making a pour over and give you half n half for it". How incredibly pretentious of you to tell me how I should take my coffee, and waste 6$ of my money. Unbelievable that YOUR opinion dictates if I should get half and half from you or not. Get over...
