I usually try to leave positive reviews, but my goodness...
Where to start? First off, A Quiet Woman sounds like exactly what I’ve been missing in my life—sadly, I was greeted with shrill harping from the second I shelled out the $10 cover charge for the "privilege" of entering. So much for my dreams of peace.
It was a busy night, so maybe it’s not always this bad, but the vibe—and the pricing—was pretentious as hell. Overpriced chaos doesn’t scream "fine dining" to me.
This next bit isn’t entirely the establishment’s fault, but some loud, obnoxious woman parked herself across from me uninvited, torching any hope I had for a calm meal. Thanks for the cherry on top, universe.
The food? An absolute travesty. If you’re charging top-dollar prices, I expect you, as a "chef," to know your cooking oils (hint: butter, not that demonic canola plaguing every kitchen). My short rib was a pathetic, overpriced insult to what I could’ve made at home for half the cost—and eaten like a king for a week. The bar’s so low it’s underground, and this place still faceplanted. If I’d paid half as much, I might have let it slide.
The only thing remotely passable was my dirty martini—decent, but nothing to write home about. Service? Nonexistent. The poor server was clearly overwhelmed, but that doesn’t excuse ghosting me.
To top it all off, they told me my payment wasn’t acceptable (didn’t you just take it at the door?). I had to awkwardly pay with my phone at the counter like some kind of bandit.
Two stars and 20% tip is a mercy for the okay martini and the somewhat decent, if uninspired, live music. Otherwise, hard pass on ever coming back. I’ve had enough harpy ninnies to last a lifetime, and I’m not paying for another dose. Save your cash and your sanity—avoid this place if you care about...
Read moreFirst, let me preface by saying this is the first negative review I have ever posted. I'm not one to complain but we had probably the worst experience ever at a restaurant on 8/17/17. The manager, who I believe may have been the owner was incredibly rude to the 4 of us as soon as we walked in and before we were even seated at our table. In the middle of dinner, she wrongly accused us of using profanity at her staff (which we would absolutely NEVER do. In fact, our server was very nice and respectful) and threatened to kick us out. The men at the table next to us near the bar were cussing all night long. The food was marginal at best, took over an hour to get served and the salads came after the main course was served. Another customer in the bar area was leaning his backside up against our table, the floors are filthy, the place is so crowded and loud that its impossible to hear anything. I expressed my concerns to her after dinner and she became extremely argumentative and hostile and told me to "get out of her face!" I told her we have never been treated so poorly but she didn't want to hear it. Wow, business must be good to alienate the locals. The food and drinks are horribly overpriced...$33 for a cocktail. As locals and small business owners here in CDM I am appalled at the treatment we received. I could never treat my customers that way, we wouldn't be in business. We will never recommend or return to the QW, no matter how big of scene it is. Rude staff, marginal food, horrible service, hostile manager/owner. We paid in cash because it took too long to get a check. If we would have put it on our credit card, I would have disputed the charge, it...
Read moreI went here on a Friday night when they have a live band performing. This review is on the staff and manager of the restaurant. I came in and asked for table by a bar. The man at the host area said there were no tables but was rude about it. We went to the bar and order two drinks. We decided to split the bill on two $14 drinks. The bartender ran our cards then tells us that its automatic gratuity applied to the bill. Ridiculously at 20 percent! I asked for the manager and the manager turned out to be rude man at the host area. I told him I think that the bartender should have told us about the gratuity for splitting prior to us paying. He brushed me off and said I don't have to apply additional gratuity. Well of course not!! $3 tip was already automatic for lousy service. Only because he had to run two credit cards instead of one deserves extra tip??? I have been to all the restaurant in Newport and Corona del mar and never heard of an automatic gratuity for splitting a bar tab of only 2 drinks!! The manager doesnt know the meaning of customer service or friendliness. The place is packed and lots of people buying drinks.Small place and be prepared for poor service if you go there. I came from CDM prior and the bartender and staff there were more friendly and attentive. I noticed other reviews mentioned rude staff so apparently I'm not the only one who experienced such a poor staff at this...
