Dissonant at best!
Not many people have earned my disrespect but Tim and Adam at PCAV are two of them.
As a person who values building relationships for the long term especially over high priced high quality connoisseur driven items these two have provided nothing but short sided, rude and curt “what have you done, (IE spent money) with us lately” tone to our interactions.
All Tim cares about is chasing the next bigger better dollar. Which is unfortunate as I already am a customer with a Hi-Fi system purchased through them along with some base home AV items. My expectation would be to always be treated as a valued customer…
There have been a panoply of examples that I will refrain from listing but my most recent experience, reaching out to them for help installing a new TV rack, (in which unbeknownst to them I was ready to discuss and make a deposit on some new upgrades and additions to my hifi system) they offered me an install date range, and then did not respond to confirm a time for over a week, (my reaching out three times via email and once over text with no reply)
A reply finally came. No contrition to taking so long to reply, no friendly exchange or options, and then a second reply from them within minutes backing out completely; (Tim the owner never even texted me back).
“Mark, we have to cancel our scheduled appointment on the 25th. We have large scale systems and deals needing our attention. We have to prioritize the larger deals per this economic climate, I’m sure you understand. If you don’t wish to use us going forward, you’re welcome to call around to our constituents and see if their schedules are more open.”
I would be delighted if a customer of mine reached out to me for anything at anytime, as I take pride in knowing my relationships are intact and thinking of us, in this “climate” or any climate... If I want to pull teeth, I will go visit my dentist.
Oh, and Adam, you may want to use a dictionary more often... Who exactly are your “constituents” that I should be calling to give my...
Read moreIn a world that is now dominated by online purchasing, Tim Miner understands what makes a physical retailer stand out. I upgraded my AV system after a decade, and while I was spending a lot (for me) my budget wasn't close to Tim's other clients. However, Tim treated me as if I was at the top of the heap. He didn't just try to steer me to the first thing in the store given my budget. He put together a system that would address all my needs, including making a visit to my house to see how it would be placed and structured. It was also clear to me that Tim wasn't out to make a quick buck. There were several times where I asked if I should get something and he said, "I'd love to take your money, but that just isn't worth it. Don't bother." This is the approach of a professional who values long term relationships over quick cash.
Tim worked with me for over 2 months in the design of my entertainment system and he promptly returned all of my calls. And when the speaker manufacturer let us know that my order would be delayed because of my paint color selection, Tim delivered his demo units of the speakers which I got to use for over a month.
Sure, you could order a bunch of AV equipment online and yeah, it might be cheaper. But in going to Pacific Coast, you are getting exactly what you pay for: professionalism, guidance and the expert opinion of someone who truly cares about your experience as a customer and audiophile.
I'll be a customer for Tim's for many...
Read moreSeveral years ago, my best friend and I visited this store; just a casual walk-in one day. We both had driven past it for many years. Both he and I used to sell audio back in the 70s and still have the audio bug. Tim and his lovely wife Jean were there that day. Tim sat us down and took the better part of 3 hours or so with us listening to various music pieces and equipment. We didn’t have an appointment, but Tim spent all his time with us and didn’t pressure us to buy. That made a lasting impression on both of us, and I told Tim, someday, I’ll be back to purchase a system.
Late last year, I did exactly that. After describing the listening area we had, a small living room, Tim came out, looked it all over and made both design, cabling, and equipment recommendations. I knew I wanted McIntosh, and he designed a system around that, which amongst other things, required custom speaker stands as the room layout didn’t allow for off-the-shelf speaker stands.
He and his tech, Miller, spent a good part of the day installing everything, dialed it in, and I have to say, it’s absolutely perfect for this particular room. The best sounding system I’ve ever heard, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s not only aesthetically very pleasing for the room, but sonically excellent.
Anyone who desires high-end hi-fi, and incredible knowledge, please, do yourself a favor, give these folks serious consideration. You won’t be...
