๐ ONE OF THE BETTER WAHOO'S LOCATIONS ๐
โ๏ธ INSIDE - Plenty of seating, the booths in the back are padded and comfortable. Typical Wahoo's decor with stickers and signs showcasing skate, surf & snow. Music is not too loud and conversation is easy to have while eating. โ๏ธ FOOD & DRINKS - After several visits I have to admit it is consistently good, fresh tasting food. Soda dispenser has good carbonation, salsa is fresh. Black beans are cooked exactly right, not mushy or hard. Rice is not overcooked, fish was fresh & seasoned perfectly. โ๏ธ LOCATION - It's a fairly quiet location, with the food court area being far enough away as to be a non-factor. The seating surrounds the "bar" area which actually eliminates the "Fish Bowl" effect. There is outdoor seating adjacent to the building. This Wahoo's almost feels secluded from the rest of the Atrium. โ๏ธ STAFF - This location has the friendliest staff of any location I have visited. They are professional and courteous despite having to deal with the occasional Fashion Island snobs. The staff on the night I was there showed excellent attention & friendly service.
:: OVERALL :: I only like 2 Wahoo's locations for various reasons. The original Costa Mesa location & this Fashion Island spot. The prices are reasonable, the food is fresh & nothing is overpriced, including alcohol.
:: ABOUT COMPLAINTS BELOW :: I did not expect free food because of some App, I did not get "Green" sauce on my tacos, my order was ready within 15 minutes of ordering & as for small salsa portions - I simply asked for more salsa with my meal and got it free of charge. Not sure about bland flavors, get spicy next time, it is an...
ย ย ย Read moreLocated in the food court, Wahoo's is a great little place to dine, while strolling though Fashion Island. Upon entering the restaurant, everything is clean and orderly, and there is a menu on the wall near the line, allowing you to decide your menu, while waiting your turn to order.
The menu has a good variety of dishes, and many allow you do choose the type of protein that you would like included in your meal; e.g. fish, chicken, pork. I am am always drawn to my go to favorite; #1 combination plate, with an enchilada, rice and beans. Fish tacos are also a favorite choice at Wahoo's. The food is always fresh, flavorful and an excellent bargain. I especially like rich smooth flavor of the white rice.
There are nice tables inside, but during this COVID season, very nice open outdoor seating is available. Besides the restaurant patio, there is the outdoor food court dining area with lots of tables and a relaxing water feature. Sitting in the outdoor patio is also a great option if you are enjoying an afternoon with your four-legged family member.
Good service and great food makes Wahoo's my favorite place for a quick meal at...
ย ย ย Read moreWe go here occasionally for dinner. Place even at 6pm only has 1/2 covers filled. Interesting this location has a bar also. The bar cocktails are advertised when you order. They have beers too, not sure if tap. There is also seating outside in a fancy sunken atrium. The ripple wet wall is pretty relaxing and provides some convective cooling on a hot day. Service has been a wide range. From completely ignored while the only person taking orders does one or two phone orders. Lately there is different staff that explains the choices and makes nice suggestions. If you know Wahoos get the onion rings with ranch and (my pref) some Tapatio or Cholula picante pepper sauce. There are more protein choices as well as how you'd like the food prepped. Wahoo's is a lot more than fish tacos now. For example, my friend had a tasty chicken Banzi bowl with brown rice and tasty veggies. Oh, so grindable. Two restrooms, Men/Women around the side to the left as you show up to the last register. Also, they have a clean drink bar with Pepsi flavor choices. For drinks they offer three types...
