CHINA 1 — Restaurant in Newport

I just ordered from China 1 via telephone. My wife and I are allergic, highly allergic to shell fish. I asked in the phone to have the shrimp and lobster sauce that my mother in law ordered to be put into a totally separate bag. Once at the restaurant the Shrimp and Lobster sauce was in with the egg rolls and the moo goo gai pan. I asked to just remake the moo goo gai pan and egg rolls and we would call it good. I do understand that there is a language barrier. However the young lady kept arguing that she had taken it out of the bag, and placed it in another bag, so now it was fine. On three occasions I explained that if the steam from the shrimp and lobster sauce had even got on the container and my wife touched it then her food,she could die. Again I was told that it would be fine now. We ran this circle at least four times. I tried to be patient. I finally just walked out the door. This is sad because we have ordered from here several times and enjoyed it. We believe in helping local owned restaurants. However this will probably be the last time...

I ordered my food to go and it was a large order. They brought my food and I went to my car. I decided to look in the bag to make sure everything was in there because the last time they forgot my wings and california roll and I had to drive back. Now they forgot my house special fried rice and I went back in. The lady requested to look through the bag and I agreed. She proceeds to show me their internal recipt which states it was cooked and given. IT WAS NOT IN THE BAG. She doesnt apologize but keeps insisting that they made it. She now tells me I will have to wait for them to make another one and she walks away. A gentlemen comes out from the back a couple of minutes later with the rice and apologizes. That lady was very rude when it was their mistake and it happened the last time. They make great food but their customer service...

The food was decent. The service was not good. I was placing a to go order, and he was very flippant with me. Then when another customer came in, he took the menu from my hand and tried to give it to her and only gave it back to me when she said she already knew what she wanted. There was a whole stack of menus right beside him he could have gave her, but he took mine from my hands. I didn't say anything and when he gave me my receipt he looked at me as if saying go away now. He had not told me how long it would be to wait and took him until after he was done with the other customer to tell me how long my wait would be. The food came out and I went home. The food was good, but I had already been treated as a less than person all day before this, and this just took the cake. Not sure if I'll ever go back...
