If you're looking for whiskey, scotch and bourbon...you've come to the right place. A place for those looking to taking the plunge into the world of Kentucky's drink of choice or for those looking to share the pleasure of smoky, amber gold. Knowledgeable staff always willing and happy to make a recommendation. A vast selection of bourbon, whiskey and scotch make this a must visit place for lovers of the aforementioned spirits. There is a limited food menu available with some appetizers, etc but nothing overly substantial. You are however across the street from a very good Italian restaurant, Pompillios, and a couple blocks away from Hofbrauhaus Newport. There is limited seating indoors, consisting of seating at the bar, a few stand alone tables, and a couple booth seats. However, there is a sizable patio available so you can sit outside if you so choose. There is table service so you dont have to worry about fighting your way in and out to get refreshments, and there is also a sizable selection of various whiskeys etc on sale if you'd like to take something home with you. As for parking, there is street parking available as well a few nearby lots where regular patrons park. Do take note that Prohibition Bourbon Bar is ONLY open Thursday - Sunday so make sure they're open before you head on over. Also, one of if not the best old fashioned cocktail in the city.

Read moreWe were in town for business then my wifes cardiologist up in Cincinnati. We decided to try a local Italian place then needed a drink to wash away the terrible experience. I had walked by this establishment about a year previous but they were not quite opened again yet. This time, they were in full swing!
Service here was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and the main man behind the bar was able to answer all my questions and make suggestions that were spot on.
This is the only bar I have been to that has such a wide variety of Old Forester Birthday. I finished off his 2014 and had a pour of the 2015. The 2014 is one of my all time favorites so this was quite the treat.
We sat indoors and the tables were close but that made us feel more at home and we're even able to talk to others around us. During such a stressful time, it made it nice to relax and engage with others.
