I'm very disappointed in this place. I went to place a pickup order on doordash and it said it was closed, but it is not closed, it had been open for 20 minutes as it was 8:20 a.m. so I looked at their online menu, and decided to drive there and order the avocado toast and cappuccino to go. My usual order. I dealt with three different people and the only person that even had a smile on their face was the person who handed me my bag of food. Which is fine, we all have our days. I got to work, about 10 minutes later, and sat down to eat my breakfast. And when I opened the box, there was a piece of bread covered in juice, fruit, nuts, and other things that are not listed on the menu. I was going to try to just manage, however, the bread had been sitting in juice liquid and was completely soggy and no longer toast. And the combination of what was put on the toast was disgusting. I called the manager who said they had a menu change. I told her online the menu states that the avocado toast is still the original, with egg and all the good stuff. She stated she changed the menu online, so I took a screenshot of current online menu and it will be posted on here, which does in fact still show the original delicious avocado toast and not the new awful sugar toast. She also said they no longer use doordash, which their business does still appear on doordash. My point being even though the menu was incorrect online, had I even tried to eat the avocado toast I could not. It was soggy and tasted wayyy too sweet because of all of the fruit and juices on it. I still left a tip, as I usually do, hoping to put a smile on someone's face, to no avail. It's also disappointing they no longer use doordash, because doing a pickup order through doordash is a few dollars cheaper than actually just picking it up through the restaurant.
Stopped in for a second chance. Ordered Southwest bowl, they forgot the chipotle sauce and the sweet potatoes were raw and not cooked. I came in an hour before close and requested a quiet seat, the manager and cashier both complained about my request. I literally watched and listened as the manager complained to another employee that I requested a table in the back. When my food was dropped, I thanked her, she didn't say a word. I did tip $3 before the service, my mistake, the service warranted no tip, since they didn't do anything besides drop the food on the table. This place has...
Read moreMy mom had a friend and his son visiting from out of town during the recent February 2021 Snowpacalypse, and I was fortunate enough to have a snow day from work. What's the best thing about a snow day? Being able to dig in to some amazing brunch food that you wouldn't normally have the time for. Or at least that's my favorite thing about a snow day, because everything is better with brunch.
Between the four of us we ordered a pretty good sampling of the menu; a bottle of wine, some bottles of soda (they only sell soda by the single bottle), a skim milk latte, a ham and swiss with fries, burger with side salad, bacon egg and toast platter, and then my order... The Kitchen Sink. I have to pause before that because if you're familiar with the menu you know you need to breathe just thinking about actually consuming this monster. I ordered it with the gravy on the side with the thought that I'd break it apart and we'd all try different parts of it.
Our drinks came out quickly, and I thought my latte was good, though not exceptionally so. Our food came out extremely quick from what we expected, like less than 5 minutes after ordering. Yet everything was fresh, hot, and well cooked, so it seems like we benefitted from being the only people in the restaurant.
Run down: Everything was great. Like really great. Like I wanted to go back the next day, but I still had leftovers to take down before doing so. Sandwiches are large and on great bread, sides are good sized, the fig jam with the breakfast plate is AMAZING, the biscuit and gravy are classic comfort food, fried chicken has a sweet edge, and the waffled tots is probably the best use of a waffle iron I've ever seen. Yes, even better than the waffle (which was also great, and made a nice sunday breakfast carb two days later).
All that food, and the price was really reasonable. Now I need some...
Read moreGreat place to have some amazing breakfast/brunch/lunch. This is the first breakfast place we have tried in the Newport area.
Food: We went for Cortado, to begin with, followed by a Breakfast Sandwich, Brussels Sprouts Tots and Portobello Mushroom Waffles with Maple Mustard Slaw. Cortado was very good but, to be honest, I've had a better one at Carabello, just a few blocks away. Breakfast Sandwich was great - amazingly well-poached egg and a cooked outer. Having mushrooms with maple-mustard slaw is kind of a gamble with waffle (even the savory ones) but it paid off well. I liked it even though it could have been slightly more seasoned. But the star was Brussels Sprouts Tots which was great. Having potato as a base for a waffle is a good but safe idea when you want to make a savory waffle. But, having said that, no doubt that it tasted good. The combination of Brussels sprouts, cherry tomatoes and artichokes was great for veggies and Parmesan gave a great finish. Overall, a must try. However, one downside is that they don't have options in desserts, except a few, which is quite strange for a breakfast place.
Ambiance: It has a perfect ambiance for a breakfast place. Plenty of sunlight through the all glass wall on one side overlooking the Monmouth-street. The high chairs are perfect for people visiting alone or two. It is smart to have almost entire seating area having a street view. There are sofas as well. For Monmouth residents, there is a special entrance available from the back side of the restaurant that opens to the apartment complex.
Staff: The lady was quite friendly. Didn't have much interaction with the staff except at the time of ordering. I guess they were just good.
Overall, a must-try breakfast place in the Newport...
